Sorry, not a quirk, it's a feature. Which we'll explain when Martians get here.
Tommy said it right, what happens in the US has an effect on the rest of the world. Speaking for myself, I'm European, my wife is American and my daughter has dual nationality. If you would be interested in the truth it stands to reason that having people who have different experiences and even actual first hand ways to make comparisons should be welcomed. I see plenty of people on the right, talking about socialism, health care, European history in order to make a point about the US. Even this OP is full of replies trying to make claims about American exceptionalism. So my question is, do you mind foreigners being on this board because they are foreign, or is it that it makes certain assertions subject to challenge?
OK, visualize fifty people voting.
It does not matter if they are slim or fat, rich or poor, male or female, gay or straight, white or black everyone's vote is equal.
Result of the vote: 30-20.
Very simple... it’s a means to ensure that large urban populations of brain dead wastes of flesh and oxygen cannot completely overwhelm the less population dense areas in the interior of the country where morals and values still exist.
This right here is the essence of why we need to return to Isolationism. You have TWO Americans being corrupted by foreign influence; your wife and your daughter.
I do hope you live outside the US, since I would prefer to see your wife and daughter’s US Citizenship revoked
My my corrupted no less? I think you don't really know what isolationism in the US actually was? It was a prevailing sense that the US shouldn't get involved in foreign wars. What you seem to mean by isolationism is no immigration or emigration. Guess what..... unless you are of Indian descent the reason you are sitting here calling Europeans corrupting, precisely is because the US allowed your ancestors to immigrate into the US. You are an immigrant nation. And no amount of mindless bigotry displayed here will change that.
It is one of the best things that could happen with this medium that people from anywhere can participate here. They should not only be welcomed, but encouraged.
My view of Isolationism is a TOTAL Isolationism. Nobody in. No products or information in or out. No contact whatsoever.
My abcestirs came here to create this country (20 years after the pilgrims) and then laterto become Americans; not to dilute or contaminate what America was with their Europeanism. They came here and adapted to AMERICAN culture. They didn’t demand people support them financially or socially. They worked for what they wanted, and didn’t ask for handouts.
So it's not that you feel the need to return to isolationism but rather that you want the US to become something it has never been, literally like North Korea? By the way 20 years after the pilgrims there was NO American culture, you simply had the English culture. Forgive me when I say this Anethema but you sound a little bit unhinged.
