Depends on the veteran. There's a shitload of them in the brig/penitentiaries, sex-offender registries, local jails and institutions and many more hospitalized, depressed, suicidal, drug addicts/dealers, and committing crimes - many serious crime. So, what type of veterans specifically are you inquiring about?

Those not implicated in felonies who would welcome a safer place to live than shelters or the street. This is just anecdotal, but I know a few formerly homeless vets who had substance abuse problems and whose lives were turned around by simply having a room in an SRO and follow-up by the VA. Seems to me turning some of the millions of vacant houses across the country into group homes or something similar could save a lot more.

It's the practicality I'm concerned with. Michael Moore is grandstanding (what else is new?) and of course SnottyIrishLass and her posse jump on this as a one-size-fits-all solution.
