FLASHBACK: Conservative Media Didn't Care Bush's Bird Flu Czar Had No Medical Experience

BUSH!

When will start addressing the shortcomings of the current POTUS rather than "flashing back" to the shortcomings of the previous office holder? Do you do this because you have no defense for the moves Obama has made and continues to make?

It actually has nothing to do with Bush. It's not about Bush it's about the appalling hypocrisy of the right. They didn't give a shit if the bird flu czar had any medical experience, but they are throwing a fit and falling into it because President Obama's Ebola czar doesn't. Bush isn't key.

Says the far left Obama drone that will vote far left no matter what..

Again fro the far left posters that missed this:

Stewart Simonson was the first Assistant Secretary for Public Health Emergency Preparedness at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The RW Nutter criticism is that Ron Klain isn't a doctor. Is Stewart Simonson a doctor? No...hence the appalling hypocrisy. What Ron Klein is good at is crisis management and that is what you need, not a doctor. The surgeon general is a doctor. We do need one of those.

Read post #26 and cry me a river.

Why? It has nothing to do with what I said. I said we need a surgeon general, that's all. I also said the nutter criticism is nothing more than the usual ODS because the nutters didn't give two figs that Stewart wasn't a doctor, they only care that Obama's choice isn't a doctor.

There is an acting Surgeon General and he is certainly better qualified than the Ebola Czar and the head of the CDC combined.

Lushniak spent 16 years with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

While there, he worked on assignments in Russia, Kosovo and Bangladesh. He also worked at the World Trade Center site and with the CDC anthrax team.

Lushniak joined the Food and Drug Administration in 2004. He served as the Chief Medical Officer, Office of Counter-terrorism Policy and Planning in the Office of the Commissioner before being named FDA Assistant Commissioner, Counterterrorism Policy and Director of the Office of Counterterrorism and Emerging Threats within the Office of the Commissioner, the following year. He was promoted to Rear Admiral (Upper Half) and named Deputy Surgeon General in 2010

It is about Bush. But you are also right that the claim is the right are hypocrites because of this. Unfortunately that narrative fell apart after my first post where I pointed out Bush's appointee did indeed have experience in public health while Obama's has no related experience whatsoever.

No, another strawman fallacy. Rabbi Rules!
The criticism is Klain has NO QUALIFICATIONS for his job other than political operative. He needn't be a doctor. But you would think some experience in public health, health policy, epidemics, disease control or something might be a requirement in a job that deals with all those things.

Creak creak creak goes the goalposts....

Slurp slurp slurp goes seawytch on her knees in front of Obama.

Yes, the RW nutters are indeed "moving the goalposts"....but that's what they do. They are hypocrisy immune.

The OP was already proven wrong, the guy Bush appointed had experience in emergency planning and HHS work. What does Obama's guy have?

You clowns are the ones focusing on "being a doctor". Here is a little hint, alot of people who work in epidemiology are not MD's but PhD's.

The focus on being a doctor was an invention of the rightwing propaganda machine from the first moment this fake controversy was hatched.
No that's actually an invention of the Left. No one is criticising him for not beign a doctor. They are criticizing him for not having any relevant experience whatsoever.

BUSH!

It's relevant because the legitimacy of the criticism can be brought into question if the criticism is coming from people who did not object to the very same actions by a president of the other party.

Bush's two AIDs Czars were also NOT doctors.

It's simply Obama Derangement Syndrome.

Clintons first one wasn't a doctor, she was a nurse. The 2nd one was more of a health policy wonk than a medical professional.

All you're doing is help establish that there has never been some rule or standard that a presidential czar dealing with a healthcare problem ought to be a doctor,

therefore, the claim to the contrary is clearly an invention by the rightwing propaganda machine.

YOUR side is the one making this about being a doctor. Most criticism has been about experience in the area in question in general. Bush's Bird Flu guy had experience in Emergency Prep and worked at HHS, what does Obama's Ebola Czar have that is comparable?

This is a losing argument for you guys, just walk away.

Are you fucking insane? This 'doctor' controversy was started by the Right by people who didn't even know who Bush appointed as AIDs czars.

In fact, I was the first one, a few days ago, to even mention here that Bush had AIDs czars who weren't doctors.

It was a about relevant experience, which he has none. Bush's guy was experienced in E-prep and worked for HHS.

He worked with medical preparedness and public health emergencies.
You've just shot your own thread with your own stupidity Bush appointed someone qualified. Obama appointed someone unqualified. And probably incompetent. Thanks for highlighting the difference between the adult president and the teenaged president.

Well, let's start by proving you're either lying or ignorant.

Mr. Klain is not a doctor, he’s not a health care professional, he doesn’t have background in these issues,” said Sen. Ted Cruz, Texas Republican, on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Oh gee, here's Ted cruz saying exactly what I wrote. Klain isn't a doctor. Klain isnt a health care professional (which must be something other than a doctor). Klain doesn't have a background in these issues. Which is what we've been saying.
Bush's appointee was also not a doctor but did have background in healthcare issues.
