Finally, a real non interventionist.

And if for some reason the flow of oil from that region is disrupted; we can charge more for ours...

And pay more for what we import

It kind of becomes a wash, though. America pays more, but keeps more.

How much oil does the U.S. export and import?

New technology and discoveries have made OPEC suffer when they try to pull the bullshit of cutting production.

Not really, the oil companies keep more money but the consumer pays more. Our shale oil is not good for things like making gasoline.

I am pleasantly surprised by Trump's non-intervention.

Besides, diminished global oil supply helps who?

Oil company stockholders.

Didn't know we had our own flag though.

You really think profits for oil companies does nothing for the Texas economy?

:laughing0301:

Noted.

You really think oil companies are by definition based in Texas?

:laugh2:

The one I've got stock in is based in a very wonderful place in Holland and the UK.
But hey, if the Bronx can be in Germany, fuck it, Holland can be in Texas.

Not in the least. I know exactly where my dividends come from. See if you can figure out what RDS stands for now.

Somebody to tell the rest of the world that we aren't going to fight their wars for them. Somebody that looks after America's interest first. Somebody that doesn't think America should be the world's policeman.

...and it ain't no goddamn Democrat.

We are producing our oil now thanks to fracking so we can be less of a force in the ME. Great that Trump knows that.

Trump tells other countries to protect own Gulf shipping

President Donald Trump on Monday told other countries to protect their own Gulf oil shipments, declaring that the United States has only limited strategic interest in the "dangerous" region.
We had a great deal to stop Iran from getting nukes, Trump destroyed that and made this crisis all by himself. Also the border crisis and the tariff Crisis. Nobody seems to be impressed but the dupes of course...

Trump is a liar and completely dishonest.

He'll do anything to win reelection, including starting a war.
Probably true....but, he specifically did NOT start a war here, right?

:dunno:

.

If your bar for evaluating the foreign policy of presidents is Donald Trump NOT hastily igniting a war with a formidable foe (unlike its western neighbour who the U.S. once invaded 16 years ago), then you have some obscenely low standards I’ll say LOLz

I'm uuuuuuuuuuuuuh pretty sure the Texas economy has nothing to do with the Netherlands.

I think what most people don't understand is that petroleum is not a domestic thing, it's a worldwide thing.

In the past I've traded commodities. While I never did much with oil, I still understand how it all works. It's the commodities market that sets the price of oil that we all pay in fuel.

So we get some bad news about oil disruption in the Gulf; something that may not directly affect the US. That will not stop commodity traders from buying long contracts. When investors buy long contracts (meaning they expect the price to increase) it ups the price of oil.

Based on what I read in the OP, it seems Trump doesn't even understand this. Even though the price of oil may increase in China, it still may have some impact on the US. How much? That's anybody's guess. But the price will not remain the same.

And, I am pretty sure the THOUSANDS of Texans employed by RDS's Texas subsidiary DOES have something to do with the Texas economy.

The question remains if the money we spend on our strategic assets and missions in the ME are worth the lowered cost of fuel. Particularly if we can get China to spend those resources for us.
