can someone please just give me a break? I'm a woman, and I don't see how abortion in general infringes on a "woman's right to choose." If I go have unprotected sex and end up pregnant, than it's my fault and my partner's fault. when will women get the hint and frikkin' decide to take the consequences of their own frikkin' actions????

If abortion were illegal you wouldn't hve a right to choose it as an option.

I hope I don't insult you with my simplistic answer.

    But...it had to be said.

Foremost, I think victims of rape need to have this as an option.

Even if I thought abortion was murder, which I don't, I would rather see a fetus murdered early on than see a loved one FORCED to carry it to term after being raped by the father. Many woman keep rape to themselves becausee they are so traumatized, yet you would see these women forced to raise(or at the least, birth) the product of said rape?

That's where I begin when discussing abortion.

And for the record, I have never nor do I ever see myself talking a lover/wife/family member into having an abortion. Except for in the case I mentioned or for some other medical reason.

Even if I "don't think" I'm ready to have a child, I promise you I would rather do so than have my seed aborted. The LAST thing that would come to my mind would be abortion. Unless the mother brought it up, then I would respect her wishes(discussion) as I do HER body.

    Guys have it easy.:D

Frankly, I want it to be illegal. I see it as murder and as women being irresponsible and taking the easy way out. I mean, look at this! Partial BIRTH abortion? Don't you think the stupid woman shoulda made up her mind by now anyway?!
I used to have a big problem with what i thought about this, but then one of my best friends was raped. She lives down in L.A., so I wasn't there until after she found out that she had become pregnant. She's only 19 years old, two years older than I am, but she carried the child until it was born, because she said that the child was innocent of any wrongdoing.

    True.
    But so was she.
    Good for her, though.
I wish him 1000 sodomizations in jail(well, not really but I wouldn't shed I tear for him I don't think) and her eternal happiness with her child.:D
    More later, off to class...

This is going to the Supreme Court. This one activist judge is not going to call the shots for the country.

They do...President Bush's stance makes exceptions for the case of rape, incest, or when the life of the mother is threatened....compassionate conservatism...

Logically, if the fetus is a human being, then rape, incest, etc. should not be exceptions for allowing legal abortions. Just a thought.

For me, if a state wants to ban abortion and the Supreme Court overules Roe v. Wade to allow it, the world isnt going to end. People will still get abortions, just in other states--it basically just hurts poor people, but thats nothing new. A federal ban on abortion just isnt going to happen, not without a HUGE nasty, unbelievable politcal fight. Roe v. Wade is a nice compromise, and I hope it stays in place, but I can understand why people might object to it as overstepping judicial authority, which is quite an issue apart from abortion.

I agree that for the most part women and men should be responsible for their actions. There are reasons other than unprotected sex that might lead a woman to want to get an abortion though!
