I guess as a kid it was boring too and the same plot every week. Lassie saves in the end. So I probably just liked the dog. How many kids asked for a dog after seeing lassie and were disappointed their dog was dumb?

Mr ed is almost unwatchable now but as a kid I was amazed or amused with a talking horse.
