Family Guy Crosses the Line

Um…did that really happen? And on Fox? Last night’s episode featured a “unique” story line where character Chris Griffin was dating a girl with Down’s Syndrome. A dangerous territory for comedy to be sure, that turned ugly, when Ellen (the character with Down’s Syndrome) revealed that her mother was the former governor of Alaska. Cue deserved outrage…now!

Family Guy - Trig Palin | TV | Mediaite

So what? People with Down's Syndrome shouldn't date, is that the point of your complaint?
Or that some of them can be demanding? Or that they can be like anyone else?

I'm gonna let someone else field this one. :cuckoo:

Family Guy is a liberal show????

That may qualify as the singularly dumbest dumbass question of the day.

But it's still early.
Sure, that's why LimpTard appears on the show every chance he gets.

El Rushbo Nails Family Guy Gig
August 19, 2009
RUSH: Now, people are asking me, people here on the staff, in the e-mail, "Hey, Rush, hey, Rush, how was it at the Family Guy taping yesterday?" My friends, if I may say so, I nailed it. We had allotted three hours and 45 minutes to tape the segment, and I am the featured star. The premise of the program is the family dog, Brian, gets tired of being a liberal, he stumbles across a book of mine that I've written when I'm in town signing a book, and he becomes this big conservative and he actually becomes a groupie, following me around, moves in with me, tries to take over my radio show. And it is hilarious.

RUSH: When the program ended yesterday, I had to cut an audio bit for the season premiere of The Family Guy on Fox. I think they told me that this is the season premiere for networks season, whenever that next season starts, and while I was waiting for the phone connection to do this, I was watching PMSNBC after the press conference from the attorney general of North Carolina.

And on Glee, they have a cheerleader with Down Syndrome. The Cheerleading Coach has an older sister with Down Syndrome also. Is this a lib show?

Now, I didn't see the Family Guy episode. Were they making fun of the girl because she had Down Syndrome, or just making a joke about the fact her mother was "Sarah?"

Glee is one of the most liberal shows on TV. They are making a social issue the point of the show almost every week. I couldn't take it anymore so I quit watchign with my wife.

That's so elitist!

We don't watch Family Guy in my house. Never have. My issue with shows like The Simpsons, Family Guy and South Park is that there are many clueless adults out there who think because they are cartoons, they are appropriate for children, when they are NOT. I'm shocked at the number of kids under......say 10, who can quote every line of these shows. Don't get me wrong. I have a healthy bawdy sense of humor.......with other adults, but these shows are not family fair and usually are outrageous for the sake of being outrageous.

Don't get me started on South Park....you're right, about all three of them. They are not for children. Of course most of our television these days isn't for children and truth be told, I'm insulted by a lot of it as an adult. That's why we did away with our cable.

You know what kooky concept I do if I don't want to watch something on TV I may not like?

I don't watch it!

Freaky, I know.

Waaaaaaait a minute....

So all the OTHER jokes that Family Guy has made over the years, where there's no doubt been insensitivity towards just about every "class" in existence, were ok...

But when a special needs character is portrayed, it "crosses the line"?

Chanel, REALLY?? Have you seen most Family Guy episodes? The show crosses the line every week!

Sorry....you can't have it both ways. Most people that don't go for that kind of toilet humor don't watch The Family Guy.

I can understand that people are a bit overly sensitive at times but the point seems to be that Republicans can be made fun of without any consequences. We aren't allowed to ask for certain topics to be placed out of bounds....like Obama's choice of a racist pastor, or his lack of concern for national security. Or the fact that he now wants credit for Iraq success even after saying it was a total failure for years.

Sarah Palin's kid is fair game though.

How many issues about Obama and other Democrats have been summarily deemed out of bounds? Yet the left can talk about Palin's kid who has nothing to do with his mother's politics.

Am I right in my assumption?

It sure seems that way.

to put it simply, the show is for ADULTS who are intelligent enough to make the distinction between comedy and real life.

It's not for people who are thin skinned. If you're offended easily, you simply shouldn't watch the show.

Uhhhh....kind on my point. I'm not offended easily. I appreciate adult humor. I realize it is for adults. I didn't and don't watch the show because there were impressionable children in the house who don't need to see dad watching it and laughing at what he tells them isn't appropriate behavior for their age. Also, I control what can be seen and he isn't allowed to flip thru the channels and watch it on his own. Family Guy is adult and as such, it usually always crosses some line in most of the shows I have seen.

Part of my point is that there are clueless adults who "think" because it is a cartoon, it is OK for kids to watch. These are the same folks who watch cable news channels and think that because it is a "news" channel, that Hannity or Maddow are reporting facts and news. No, Shepherd Smith reports the news. Hannity gives you his spin on current events.

The number of adults in the world who do not have the powers of discernment is astounding.

You know, nobody is stupid enough to think that cartoons are just for kids anymore. Ever hear of a movie a couple decades back called "Fritz the Cat"? It was animated porn.

Nowadays? Well, if you have cable, Chiller channel runs anime Mondays where they show horror anime. SyFy does the same thing with futuristic anime.

Oh yeah............Cartoon Network shifts over around 7, and starts to play episodes of teenager cartoons, steadily amping up with Family Guy, then resulting in stuff like Moral Orel, Robot Chicken, ATHF, Squidbilies, among others.

Superjail is an animated drug trip.

Yeah........right.........cartoons are just for kids.........

If you don't like it, there's probably a little rectangular thingie with buttons on it. Learn how to use it.

Can't do that? Ever hear of an on/off switch?

Chanel and the rest of you prudish assholes? Fuck off ya goddamn pedants, go please purists.

You should look up the word elitist sometime to see what the definition of that word is.

I simply commented that I don't like the show. I didn't put anyone else down for watching it, I just simply stated I don't like the show and so don't watch it.

Nothing elitist about that.

My my. Talk about "faux outrage" Reminder - this is a message board Expressing displeasure with a TV show is what some people do here. Get a grip man..

Fritz The Cat wasn't on TV. Judging by the content of today's garbage he might fit right in now.

I don't think it's being prudish to point out what should be obvious to anyone with a modicum of decency.

It's tough being a parent these days. Best thing you can do is remove all of the TVs in the house because our kids aren't safe anymore from being manipulated by left-leaning programing and outright smut.

It's only tough being a parent if you choose to live in ignorance and believe that abstinence only education will work for teenagers.

It's also tough being a parent if you are so scared of new ideas (because of your bias or prejudice), and so therefore choose to ignore anything that isn't just like you.

The rest of us? We're busy seeing what new developments are on the horizons, looking to see where renewable energy can be utilized and generally getting ready for the future.

Slug Sizzle, apparently, you're not.

Ahhh, now I see why so many people have problems with you. You're either fucking stoopid or have a reading comprehension problem. I'm not concerned enough to find out which.

Clearly her outrage wasn't about the retard per se, it was about the indirect reference to her hero Sarah Palin.
