Elizabeth Warren says "America's middle class is in deep trouble." Although general economic indicators are on the rise, the Massachusetts senator argued in a speech Wednesday morning, pay has stagnated for all but the richest Americans—and trickle-down voodoo economics and loose Wall Street regulation are to blame. And although Warren has given every indication that she's happy to remain in the Senate and pass on liberals' hopes that she'll run for president in 2016, her speech—at an AFL-CIO conference on wages—had the tone of a presidential campaign barnstormer.

Warren kicked off her address by noting that the current economic recovery, while real, hasn't helped most Americans. The stock market's up, but half the country doesn't own any stocks. Inflation is low, but that doesn't matter for millennials burdened by overwhelming student debt. Corporate profits have risen, but that hardly matters to people who work at Walmart and are paid so little that they still need food stamps, Warren said.

Don't be dense, you've attacked enough income inequality threads to know that adjusted for inflation wages have been flat for at least thirty years while upper class income has been growing at an astonishing rate therefore making supply side economics a horrible joke upon the working poor. The figures are inescapable, trickle down does not work as advertised but it does work as it's proponents intended.

Senator Elizabeth Warren fights for middle- and working-class Americans. But she's part of the Top 1%.


Warren, the Harvard bankruptcy law professor elected to the Senate in 2012, is worth between $3.7 million and $10 million.

That's not including the three-story Victorian home in Cambridge, Mass., that she owns with her husband and fellow Harvard law professor, Bruce Mann. It's now assessed at $1.9 million, according to city property records.

While she's not in the uppermost wealth echelon of Congress, she's not doing too badly either. Roll Call recently ranked her the 76th wealthiest out of 541 senators and representatives, based on her minimum net worth in 2013.

Her average net worth of $8.75 million, including her home, secures her a spot the Top 1% bracket in terms of wealth.

Congressional rules require lawmakers to file annual disclosure reports. The values are given as a range.

The senator declined to comment on her wealth, a spokesman said.
