But anyway I have started to do some research on Unions in America and found this link to the Hotel Employees & Restaurant Employees International Union which is based in California. Now why is an American union connected with international unions? If this union contributes to an American politician is it a conflict of interest? And didn't this union contribute money to the obama campaign?

(a) The salary of the position of Executive Vice President has been $237,500 since September 1, 1999. This salary shall continue without change until the next Convention of the International Union.
