I'm not trying to be smug or a smartass with this question.

I went to a church recently and they had a band. The band started singing about God but they gave God a name I have never heard of before (I can't remember it for the life of me but it wasn't Jehova).

So I ask the Christians and Jews here, does your denomination give God a name, and what is it?

Psalms 83:18

That people may know you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the Earth.

Exodus 6:2, 3

And God went on to speak to Moses and to say to him:" I am Jehovah. And I used to appear to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as God Almighty, but as respects my name Jehovah I did not make myself known to them."

Exodus 3:15

Then God said once more to Moses: " This is what you are to sat to the sons of Israel, 'Jehovah the God of your forefathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, has sent me to YOU.' This is my name to time indefinite, and this is the memorial of me to generation after generation."

Isaiah 42:8

" I am Jehovah. That is my name, and to no one else shall I give my own glory, neither my praise to graven images."

In the King James version his name appears in Psalm 83:18 ; Isaiah 12:2; 26:4

remember: 'our father, who art in heaven, harold be thy name'. :eusa_angel:

ADONAI......Malachi 1:6
meaning "Lord", a reference to the Lordship of God.

EL-ROI................Genesis 16:13

EL-SHADDAI............Genesis 17:1,Psalm 91:1

There is a beautiful song I hear from time to time in which the band sings these Old Testament names for God.

here's the link I found these on: http://smilegodlovesyou.org/names.html
