If what you mean by "entitlements" is that I am entitled to receive something I've worked and paid for my whole life then it's BOTH.

I expect the government to live up to it's promises and so far nobody has shown me where we AREN'T the Land of Opportunity.

    And so your point was?????

The answer certainly will depend on who is answering the question....

    Conservative/Republican = Land of opportunities

    Liberal/Democrat = Land of entitlements

America is already is the land of "entitlements" for the wealthy - almost half of all member of the 2012 Federal Congress are millionaires, representing the best interests of the 1%!

    - 60% of Senate freshmen and 40% of House freshmen were worth $1 million or more

    - freshman class of the 112th Congress is worth $533.1 million

    - $3.96 million is the median estimated wealth of a Senate freshman

    - $303.5 million is the estimated wealth of the richest member of Congress, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), in 2009

    - 261 is the number of millionaires in the last Congress, out of a total of 535 members

    - $911,510 is the median wealth of all members in the last Congress ($25,149 is the median estimated wealth of an American over the age of 18 (2005))

Really? Then why are the Conservative/Republicans the only ones crying about programs that we have already paid for?

Of course, you would NEVER stoop so low as to sign up for SS when you reach that age, right?

Might have been nice if we had been ASKED if we wanted those programs.

Instead they were foisted on us by the dimwits in Govt.

I would take every dime I have invested in SS and Medicare out if I could. I can sure as hell take care of MY MONEY a hell of a lot better than some dweeb in the Govt.

Because an opportunity is something you choose to grasp and the provider chooses to set forward... your entitlements are seized involuntarily and handed out like they are owed, simply because you exist, whether or not you try and do a damn thing by a government that grabs more power with every program

I would wager (and win) that more real dollars go to corporate welfare, the MIC and "entitlements" for the wealthy than go to helping the neediest Americans and those out of work. A LOT MORE. Why is it ok for cash to flow up but an absolute butthurt to you for some of that to flow down... and only that you consider to be an "entitlement"?
