Do You Like/respect The Posters Whos Views Differ Sharply From Yours?

That went well. :eusa_shifty:

Totally depends on the poster's approach. If they make their case with respect and perhaps more important, a willingness to listen to the other POV, there are posters I respect more than even some who reflect my own POV. Aside from any opinion on this topic or that, simply knowing how fair exchange works is vital. Seeing those posters show up is always refreshing as it means you get to put the rational part of the brain to work rather than the emotional. Dishonesty sends them straight to the dumper.

There are both kinds. All you can do is pick your battles and ignore the trolls.

if it's any consolation, grampa, i like you more after you posted that thread. nothing wrong with a little peer pressure now and again.

now how about those royals?

I like intelligent arguments diametrically opposed to my own. Like I stated in a post a few days ago, I admire socialist political writers like George Orwell almost as much as I admire conservative journalists like Charles Krauthammer. If there are people I don't like on a board, I just ignore them. What's that old saw, "some people would rather be hated than ignored". I don't hate them, I just ignore them. It drives them crazy. Besides, I've hung out in (and gotten bored with) many web forums. As they go, this one is pretty decent...except you need to call in Orkin to deal with all the bugs in this software.

I've had some of the best on-line relationships with folks what are acknowledged Socialist/Green/lib-anarchists.. They are HONEST about their position and debate with integrity.

I admired slightly more folks who agree with me on principles, but I don't think that number is about politics. It's more about honesty and integrity.

OR --- just a fine sense of humor and tempered with the SERIOUSNESS of the topics we are discussing..

Most certainly. I would the say majority of my good forum friends don't share many of my views. We can disagree but we do so in a respectful and mannerly fashion.

Some. Others I detest. :slap:

H is the guy on the right up there ^^

H is a good example actually. First time we made contact it was some kind of fairly sinister snark. I don't even remember the topic but he immediately let me know he was just being lighthearted. I responded in kind and we've been good ever since.

Sometimes that's all it takes. We lose a lot reducing communication to text-- an injection of humanity goes a long way.

Or do you take politics too serious to be friendly with those you oppose?

Despite my vulgur in your face approach I like most of the posters on here. There are a few exceptions of course but some I even respect.

There are some I like:

Asclipias
Dot Com
Rice Chickie
Manifold

There might be others, but I can't think of them right now...

I like to tease Dottie, does that count?

now how about those royals?
Royals good
Chiefs bad

Wish it was reversed
does it have to be reversed? is it too much to hope that the royals stay in first place and the chiefs manage to look like they've at least heard of the game 'football' when they take the field?
