We are required to ask about advance directives upon admission, and give information and follow-up counseling if requested. You'd be surprised how many people (young AND old) asked for that during the time this was in the news. If anything good came of this, it was that it highlighted the importance of advance directives for everyone.Lesson in all this: Make sure you have your end-of-life priorities in order.
Easy to say when you're in your 50's, 40's, etc.. But with someone as young as Terri was, believe it or not, incapacitation and/or dying is the last thing you think about...
