Did you right wing dolts ever apologize to Michael Schiavo?

Lesson in all this: Make sure you have your end-of-life priorities in order.

Easy to say when you're in your 50's, 40's, etc.. But with someone as young as Terri was, believe it or not, incapacitation and/or dying is the last thing you think about...
We are required to ask about advance directives upon admission, and give information and follow-up counseling if requested. You'd be surprised how many people (young AND old) asked for that during the time this was in the news. If anything good came of this, it was that it highlighted the importance of advance directives for everyone.

I didn't apologize, I felt he had the right to do the right thing for his wife.

"turn in your card. your membership is revoked" - I expect you'll be getting one of those emails soon. Deviation is a cardinal sin in group think/speak.

A conservative who disagreed with the lunatic fringe on the right? I suspect you are more a libertarian than a libertine. :eusa_whistle:

There were several Republicans who sided with Michael, including the state senate president at the time.

just the facts ma'am...

-------

Did the paranoid right ever apologize for all the slanders thrown Michale Schaivo's way?

We had a right wing nut Senator who also happened to be a sleazy MD with interests in nursing homes (nursing homes that ... from tax payers) mis-diagnosing Terri's condition from the Senate floor. :cuckoo:

We had the wacky religious right going after this guy as a murderer (paranoid fantasies are common when attacking people over the so called 'right to life' issues).

How about you people here? Ever say something about Michael Schiavo or Terri's condition that was just plain idiocy?

Schiavo Autopsy Released
Brain Damage 'Was Irreversible'

even the damned Pope got IT wrong thinking these vegetative states are people who are alive/sentient...

gawd, the right wing fringe (that is leading the GOP these days) is unworthy of a hearing in civilized discussion.

d.

No, because it was Michael's decision.

You really are a liberal prick, aren't you?

And who do you suggest doctors take direction from?

If you don't want your next of kin making decisions for you, I'd suggest you get an advance directive and name a DPA to do so.

What ever happened to "First do no harm"?

You didn't answer the question. From whom should doctors take direction? A patient has the absolute right to refuse any treatment; when the patient is unable to speak for themselves, the next of kin or DPA is afforded that right. Following those directives is not considered "harm".

Frank normally never answers the question, nor backs anything he says. Usually he just responds to something he doesn't like with a catchphrase or quote he copied and pasted from someone else, repeats it a few times, and thinks he's making some point.

Meanwhile, if you question anything he says, he won't defend himself or refute you - just go for person attacks instead. Kinda pathetic...

:slap: Michael Schiavo was a complete fucking dick, simply because he *could* be. No apology necessary. Put yourself in the parents position for 10 lousy minutes, and your tune would change.
What made him a dick, exactly?

As for putting yourself in the parents shoes...the parents wanted to keep a replica of Terri alive so they could touch her and be with her, while selfishly denying her life to take its natural course. While I feel sorry for them, I feel worse that someone was kept in her state. I would not want to be in that state...especially if I believe there was life after death.

Any date on when "The Unauthorized Biography of CrusaderFrank" by SmarterThanHick will hit the shelves?

First do no harm in this case meant the doctors should not have removed the feeding tubes and sentences Terri to a death not seen since the Nazi Concentration Camps.

They should have had some ethics and told the Judge "Find some other way!"

Choosing to forego life-sustaining treatment is the absolute right of the patient, or their next of kin/DPA if they can't speak for themselves. That includes feeding tubes.

huh - that's rare, you're actually defending yourself for once (albeit with ridiculous analogies) instead of just quoting someone else or going on with petty insults.

"First do no harm" refers to not doing anything. The food wasn't magically getting in the tube - someone was actively giving it to her. In other words, the "do nothing" was "do not give food". Now they could have just left the empty tube in, but really what good was that? I take it you will resort back to the name calling and quoting?

Dean added, "The issue is: Are we going to live in a theocracy where the highest powers tell us what to do? Or are we going to be allowed to consult our own high powers when we make very difficult decisions?'"

Where do you stand on Obama new partnership with God on matters of Life and Death?

The point is we must be on guard against people in our government saying that "they are partners with God in matters of Life and Death"

But it's OK now for Obama to be "partners with God in matters of Life and Death"?

It's not funny, Paper. Bush at his worst never claimed to be "partners with God in Life and Death decisions"

Are we going to allow a Malignant Narcissist US President who believes he's partners with God in making Life and Death Health Care decisions and hired a NeoNazi to advise him on these decisions?

The Schiavo case has EVERYTHING to do with having a government partnering with God in matters of Life and Death

The point here is we need to fear a government that thinks they are partners with God in matters of Life and Death and will choose death just to save a few bucks, especially when they are advised by a NeoNazi like Ezekiel Emanuel.

Why does he have Ezekiel Emanuel advising him? Have you read anything by him? Do you know what the Complete "Lives" System is (hint: is has more to do with death than with life)

They why in God's name are you OK with Ezekiel Emanuel and his Complete "Lives" System as the model for ObamaCare????????????????????????????

Have you accepted Ezekiel Emanuel as your personal Savior?

As if what? Why don't you answer the question? Under the Ezekiel Emanuel Complete "Lives" System, what happens with people like Terri?

The possibility of Ezekiel Emanuel running around pulling out feeding tubes under ObamaCare should rightly terrify any thinking person

If Ezekiel Emanuel gets his way tell your friend to kiss his father goodbye. Under the Complete Lives System your friends father has already had enough "life years"

If Ezekiel Emanuel gets his way tell your friend to kiss his father goodbye. Under the Complete Lives System your friends father has already had enough "life years"

You think Obama has NeoNazi Ezekiel Emanuel advising him because he wants to chose Life?

In the absence of such a document, societies outside of Nazi Germany should choose to err on the side of Life

Valuable contributions. Hey, maybe if you copy and paste the same quote a few more times, people might start actually believing you have a point!

I HAVE to quote it multiple times because it's so rare that I get an answer to it!

Care4 answered it and I think he's the only one.

So if someone is bleeding to death your understanding of "First do no harm" means that you wouldn't do anything? Just let him bleed out?

What made him a dick was the fact that he continued to advocate for her death long after he had moved on. Her parents had not. Her parents were more than willing to foot the bill, and the only reason she died was Michael yelling "kill her" in court. You just did the same thing the rest of the death cult does, you said what happened to her was OK because that's what you would want. Your opinion doesn't mean jack shit as far as others are concerned, sorry to break it to you. If, in the future, you are brain injued, we'll kill you off because that's what you want, even if you hang on for 2 weeks after the orderlies come to your door to make sure the priests and the nurses don't give you big ice chips. The real problem is stupid people trying to put themselves in other people's shoes.

And you just did the exact same thing (twice) by saying she shouldn't have died (by your standards) because *someone else* (her parents) didn't want that.

By your own words: "your opinion doesn't mean jack shit".
Her parents "opinion doesn't mean jack shit".

Her husband was the *only* one who should have made that decision. All other circumstances, including what you think about his social life, history, morning routine, or pet hamster's name has NO relevence. I agree with your opinion of him, but that does not somehow erase his rightful decision making abilities.

The Republican party is brain dead and no one pulled the plug on it.
