Dick Cheney would be considered brilliant if

not sure where your hatred for churchill and FDR are coming from.

Churchill was responsible in large part for British bumbling at the end of WWI - if he had handled his part of the diplomacy better WWII might have been averted. During WWII Churchill did OK, but he should have pushed the Germans more in '42 - Yugoslavia caused more havoc for the German command than Britain because they coordinated their attacks to relieve pressure around Stalingrad.

FDR - hello, the father of American socialism. His inept handling of the Depression made it longer and worse than any other. Saddled taxpayers with social security. What more need be said against him.
The nation could have very easily gone Fascist during the Depression. It could have fallen to communism. FDR saved the country and our economy. He put people to work. He understood that when the economy collapses after Capitalists abuse the market with unbacked speculative schemes designed to enrich the few and impoverish the many, the government must be the spender of last resort.

FDR then went on to lead this nation to victory in World War II.

That is historical fact.

Conservatives (consistently on the wrong side of history) are left to speculate "What would Hoover do?"

FDR, Winston Churchill .....

Amazing, how so few read history. Any knowledge at of all of the period has to make both men among the smartest politicians of all time.

"The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter." Winston Churchill

"Man will occasionally stumble over the truth, but usually manages to pick himself up, walk over or around it, and carry on." Winston S. Churchill

Very few human beings have had such a negative effect on the world. History will not be kind to Dick Cheney.
Really? You might want to learn a little
Mohamed
Joe Stalin
Chairman Mao (even without counting inspiring Obama)
The Godwin players (to name a large group)
Winston Churchill (Whose bungling may have helped precipitate WWI - yeah as in the first)
FDR

Should I go on?
And leftist socialist sympathizers talk about the rights hyperbole.

Cheney = wretched VP - Yeah got that, can agree
Cheney = the above - not even on the same scale

He said few. Out of the billions of humans who have existed, certainly Cheney's influence would put him among the 'few' who were the most influential.

And both of my grandfathers and my father and mother, who lived through the First Great Republican Depression, thought that FDR did very well.

Your revision of history simply won't fly. Been done too many times by other ideological wingnuts.

how illuminating

Dick Cheney would have been considered brilliant if:
There would have been weapons of mass destruction found in Iraq.

If the Americans would have been greeted as liberators by the Iraquis after throwing over Saddam.

If an exemplerary Democracy would have been able to be set up in Iraq.

If that Iraq democracy would have had a domino effect resulting in democracies through out the middle east.

If the over throw of Saddam would not have strengthened Iran in the middle east.

If torture had actually provided better intelligence than the proven tactic previously used by our intelligence community.

I could go on but I do not want to kick a dead horse.

History has shown Dick Cheney to be absolutely wrong on the vast majority of assumptions he based his policies on. His incompetence has harmed the US and the entire world.

He will go down as the most powerful vice president and the worst vice president in history.

Very few human beings have had such a negative effect on the world. History will not be kind to Dick Cheney.

And his idiot puppet Bush played a major role.

I agree with the characterization of Cheney, sans the part about WMD's.

There was a UN Security Council Resolution stating after the first Gulf War that they existed. 1441 I believe?

You're just upset because I put Mohamed in the same group as Hitler and his Nazi goons.

I am interested on how you feel my thread shows me to be a fool?

Specifics or counter arguments please.

And his idiot puppet Bush played a major role.

But Bush was definitely the puppet and Cheney pulled the strings.

Toward the end of Bush's second term he realized Cheney's advise was not working. Bush was not real quick.

Since Bush was incapable of decisions on his own he started to let others than Cheney pull his strings and the last 2 years of his presidency was his best. That is a relative analysis.

Charley, I have to disagree with you.

History usually judges on results.

FDR and Churchill defeated possibly the greatest tyrant the world has seen, Adolph Hitler. Hitler was a huge threat to the free world and FDR and Churchill defeated him. That is how they are being judged.
FDR also was President as our country recovered from the greatest financial crisis it had ever faced. FDR signature accomplishments are winning World Was II and pulling our country out of the great depression.

Cheney and Bush's signatue event is Iraq. What Iraq did was:
Take our eye of the focus of defeating Al Quida who was based in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Saddam was a a despot but his over throw destabilized the middle east in ways Cheney and Bush did not have a clue about. The end result was tyrannical Iran became much stronger and a bigger threat to the US and the world than Iraq ever was.
The lack of post war planning resulted in an insurgency that took thousand of US soldiers lives to defeat.
Iraq became more unstable and dangerous. Thousands of innocent lives were lost.
The US lost much of the goodwill and unity both worldwide and domestically that had been built up by 9/11.
Torture and the execution of the war in Iraq became a recruiting tool for radical terrorists and helped strengthen the terrorists.

Those are the results history will judge Cheney and Bush.
To compare them to FDR and Churchill is ridiculous.
On the other hand I am not saying Cheney was as bad as Hitler, Stalin and many other despots in history. But he will be judged to be more like them than like FDR, Churchill and Lincoln who all had major successful accomplishments to be judged on.

I for one hope Mr. Cheney comes out of retirement next year.

He's the only one capapble of restoring this country to the people.

What is beautiful about our country is you are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine.

Besides yourself Iran, Al Quaida, the Taliban and other terrorist organizations would love to see Dick Cheney in controll of the US.

He is there 9/11. He rallies people to their cause. His actions feed into what they want.

Your premises are wrong

  • There were WMD in Iraq
  • America was greated by liberators, not by Al Qaida though.
  • At least one major state sponsor of terrorism is no longer sponsoring terrorism. Also, having 100,000 american troops right near Syria, and Iran, gives them a clear message too.
  • Waterboarding was used on only 3 arch terrorists. Because of it two major terrorists attacks within America were foiled, and thousands of american lives were saved.
  • Cheney was spot on
Your premises are completely wrong

Top Ten Liberal Lies

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are a lot of them, here are some

1) Hussein had no ties with Al Qaida.

Wrong! According to the DOD and CIA Hussein had ties with Al Qaida that went back a decade.

Case Closed | The Weekly Standard

2) Hussein had no WMD

Wrong.

Obviously, Hussein had WMD, he used them.

According to Iraq's 2nd in command of the airforce and Israel's chief of intelligence they were moved to Syria.

Iraq's WMD Secreted in Syria, Sada Says - January 26, 2006 - The New York Sun

http://www.nysun.com/foreign/saddams...li-says/24480/

3) Pres. Bush lied about WMD and therefore is guilty of war crimes.

Wrong.

Pres. Bush just got into office when 911 occurred. The whole democrat leadership spoke of Hussein's WMD and his biological and nuclear program. This includes Bill Cinton, Hillary, Gore, Barney Frank, John Kerry, among others. If Pres. Bush lied your entire democrat leadership lied too.

What Democrats said about Weapons of Mass Destruction

4) Pres. Bush were torturing terrorist left and right.

Wrong.

Waterboarding was done only to 3 arch Al Qaida terrorists

5) Wateboarding was not only evil it also didn't didn't get any information out of the terrorists

Wrong.

According to a CIA declassifed memo by Obama, the three terrorists didn't cooperate before being waterboarded. When asked about terrroist attacks, they simply responded ominously "soon you will know."

Because of the wateboarding a terrorist attack of a plane crashing into a Los Angeles building was thwarted.

JEFFREY: Waterboarding saved L.A. - Washington Times

6) Global warming is a fact that is undisputed

Wrong.

According to the founder of the weather channel, global is a hoax that is centered around getting money

FOXNews.com - Weather Channel Founder Blasts Gore Over Global Warming Campaign

7) Small business is not taxed enough, and they are rich anyway, they can afford it

Wrong.

Small businesses are made up of people, believe it or not. Those that had the balls to take a risk and go on their own. They are the ones who provide the jobs.

When the government confiscates more of their money, that is less money they have to operate, which could mean laying off people or closing

8) We are better off when the wealthy pay more taxes

Wrong.

The only time you are better off is if you benefit. Unless you directly benefit from someone else being punished there is nothing good that comes from other people being "punished".

Raising taxes does not create jobs, it hurts jobs.

9) Republicans stopped Obama's agenda. They are obstructionists

Wrong.

The democrats had supermajorities. They could have passed anything they wanted without one republican vote.

10) We are not in a war with Al Qaida

Wrong.

Yes we are.

Dick Cheney would be considered brilliant if............

He would have left Iraq alone and gone after OBL, instead of letting his greed get in the way.
