Democrats Deny GOP Bid to Put Health Bill Online

FROM NEWSMAX.

WASHINGTON -- Senate Finance Committee Democrats have rejected a GOP amendment that would have required a health overhaul bill to be available online for 72 hours before the committee votes.

Republicans argued that transparency is an Obama administration goal. They also noted that their constituents are demanding that they read bills before voting.

Democrats said it was a delay tactic that could have postponed a vote for weeks.

The Democrats noted that unlike other committees, the Finance Committee works off conceptual language that describes policies — instead of legislative language that ultimately becomes law, and which the GOP amendment would have required.

It's another draft, and as such will go to the full Senate next week for debate. What's the point? You gonna read it even if they did?

It's too difficult... to put stuff like this online.

Hand written note.

Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it "Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold."

Ensign receives handwritten confirmation

Yea, we are going to put 40 MILLION people in jail for a year.

That's laughable.

Only violators.

In this case, violators are tax evaders.

BTW, Obama may claim it's not... but it's a tax.

If you can read the draft, read the amendments, and see if the amendments are approved, how would this proposal change anything? It's just another stalling tactic.

Exactly. The final DRAFT hasn't even been written yet by the Finance Committee. There are still amendments to go through, starting Tuesday. But I suppose these sudden avid readers are interested in seeing daily markups as it progresses. Suuuuuuure they are!

poor lame assed excuses from democrats.. what else is new? Hey! I know, I know. obamalama ding dong ain't closing gitmo in a year either.:lol::lol::lol:

Well, in that case, the Republicans should just go ahead and put their own bill on line.

Wait, they DO have a bill, don't they?

Hello.

Republicans DO have a bill? Right?

Well, they can't just be complaining about Democrats. They must have a bill? Right?

Well?

Well?

Thought so.

Theirs called "Patients Bill of Rights" and you can get it from the RNC website.

since the GOP bill has ZERO chance of getting out of the dem controlled commitees, why bother

To give Americans a second opinion? To give them a reason to vote "not Democrat" at the next election?

No one said Republicans were the brightest bulbs in the closet.

Their bill has better regulations on insurance companies, so that's good. But it's unclear how they would pay for their own plan, other than the usual tax credits which is what Republicans always fall back on as being the ONLY answer.

You ever notice that when you mention the salaries of executives from the top 100 in the US.

Top 100 Executives by Total Compensation | 2006 | Post 200 | washingtonpost.com

And then you point out that 5 are from a single health care companies Republicans become silent and withdrawn.

They know that health care companies don't make anything. They have no doctors or nurses or hospitals or equipment. They just skim money off is insurance policies. That's it. They just skim money.

And how did they get that money? By taking peoples money and then denying claims. There is no other way to get that much money.

This is what Republicans call capitalism. Of course, they don't know the difference between Marxism, Communism and Socialism, so why is it any surprise they don't know what is Capitalism?

Yea, one thousand and nine hundred dollars. You know, to pay that much and say only 40 million is probably a low estimate. More like 80 million.

All taxes if not surrendered voluntarily are collected at gun point.

This isn't about your health it's about your money.

But we should look at the bright side, if you don't pay insurance tax, you go to jail and get free health care.

Well he can't do magic dummy. Fox, the propaganda network, has scared everyone into refusing to take criminals from Gitmo.

Bush signed treaties in Iraq that we can't just "quit".

Tell us why it's a good thing that insurance CEOs make tens of millions in bonuses and where do those bonuses come from?

Well?

Which of course would increase the cost a thousandfold over just giving out free health care, which is what emergency rooms do anyway.

So what would you rather do: pay tax for emergency room or for the inmates?

they did put one up
but it never got out of committee

I see, they couldn't put it on line because it never got out of committee. Driveby would call that a smart move.

What do you want to bet it never got "online" because it never "existed"? Republicans don't care about the middle class.

Oh give the class envy BS up....

Republicans have been trying to talk to Obama about Obamacare for a while now. He lied when he said he was willing to hear both sides.

Boehner: GOP leaders haven't met Obama for health talks since April
By Molly K. Hooper - 09/09/09 11:09 AM ET
The ball is in President Obama's court to reach out to Republicans if he wants a bipartisan bill on healthcare reform, House GOP Leader John Boehner (Ohio) said Monday morning.

Boehner told reporters that the president has not invited House GOP leaders to the White House for meetings on healthcare reform since the end of April.

Earlier this year, GOP leaders sent a letter to the president in May stating that they would like to work with the administration to find "common ground" on healthcare reform.

But the administration responded with a tersely worded letter indicating that they had healthcare reform under control.

Boehner: GOP leaders haven't met Obama for health talks since April - The Hill's Blog Briefing Room

Boehner is the King of Just Say No, are you kidding? The date of that "letter" is May 13th, the day basic clauses of health care reform were formally taken up in the House. But of course prior to that Boehner had been mouthing off about how "socialistic" any such plan would be. And he hasn't shut up since. Way to go: Come talk to us, even though we'll fight you all the way. What's the point?

Anyone who belives Boner's Bullshit disguised as olive branches is already off to a bad start. Any other examples?
