The following Thomas Edsall- NYTimes article is instructive of the plans of Democrats.

It is based on taking from earners and buying the votes of those who rely on government largesse.

Read carefully- and you will note that the Left believes that Americans will take more and more....
....they certainly don't believe that the population will be smart enough to realize that, in reality, there is no free lunch.

November will tell the tale of America's future.

    1. Where will Obama find his votes? Not white working folks: "...preparations by Democratic operatives for the 2012 election make it clear for the first time that the party will explicitly abandon the white working class."

    2. Instead, they plan to count on "... cementing a center-left coalition made up, on the one hand, of voters who have gotten ahead on the basis of educational attainment — professors, artists, designers, editors, human resources managers, lawyers, librarians, social workers, teachers and therapists — and a second, substantial constituency of lower-income voters who are disproportionately African-American and Hispanic."

    3. "The Democratic goal with these voters is to keep Republican winning margins to manageable levels, in the 12 to 15 percent range, as opposed to the 30-point margin of 2010 — a level at which even solid wins among minorities and other constituencies are not enough to produce Democratic victories."

    a. "...that in order to be re-elected, President Obama must keep his losses among white college graduates to the 4-point margin of 2008 (47-51). Why? Otherwise he will not be able to survive a repetition of 2010, when white working-class voters supported Republican House candidates by a record-setting margin of 63-33."

    4. "[Democrat tactician] has become “much more interested in the affluent suburban voters than the former Reagan Democrats.” At the same time, however, he argues that Republican winning margins among white working-class voters are highly volatile and that Democrats have to push hard to minimize losses, which will not be easy. "

    5. "Democratic Party in 2006 and 2008 chose the upscale white-downscale minority approach that proved highly successful twice, but failed miserably in 2010, and appears to have a 50-50 chance in 2012."

    6. "A top priority of the less affluent wing of today’s left alliance is the strengthening of the safety net, including health care, food stamps, infant nutrition and unemployment compensation. "

    7. "The better-off wing, in contrast, puts at the top of its political agenda a cluster of rights related to self-expression, the environment, demilitarization, and, importantly, freedom from repressive norms — governing both sexual behavior and women’s role in society — that are promoted by the conservative movement."

    8. "While demographic trends suggest the continued growth of pro-Democratic constituencies and the continued decline of core Republican voters, particularly married white Christians, there is no guarantee that demography is destiny."

People who receive welfare vote overwhelmingly democrat, because they know the democrats will keep giving them their free money. And there are too many people in this situation. Most of them know perfectly well they are 100% healthy and 100% able to work. I think that puting them to work would be a great idea. Just stop giving them free money... And they will have to do something for a living. Work gives dignity... Eventually they will learn that having to work is good for them. The bible tells us that those who do not work should not eat.

    Welcome to the board, Josh.

Did you note that the OP finds two strong areas of Democrat support...those, that you have identified...

    ...and wealthy folks as well.
And both may see the kind of gains you suggest: taking from others...

    1. At 300 East 23rd Street in the exclusive Gramercy Park neighborhood of Manhattan, where to get into parts of the park you need a key granted just to residents, a new 98-unit luxury apartment complex has been built with an outdoor movie theater and panoramic city views. The problem is that not enough buyers are coughing up the $820,000 to $3 million the project’s developers are asking for the privilege to own a unit in the building. But don’t worry, the Obama administration is coming to the rescue. Last December, the Federal Housing Administration loosened its financing rules so that U.S. taxpayers would have the honor of backing loans with downpayments as low as 3.5%. Now rich Manhattanites can better afford condos in buildings with pet spas, concierges and rooftop lounges like the one in Gramercy Park, all on the taxpayers’ dime. 2. In Wilkinson County, Miss., a home has been flooded 34 times since 1978. Extraordinary as the damage may be, even more extraordinary is that an insurer has paid claims every time, required no flood proofing, never raised premiums after a claim and vowed to continue insuring the house. Forever. The home's value is $69,900. Yet the total insurance payments are nearly 10 times that: $663,000. It's no surprise that the insurer faces huge financial problems. The insurer? The federal government. Huge losses put federal flood insurance plan in the red - USATODAY.com

If you make it too difficult to find a job more and more will not bother looking.

If you make it not worthwhile to work because of high taxes more and more won't bother working.

If you make it too easy to collect benefits more and more will settle for collecting them.

Thank you, lady. Very interesting. I guess these wealthy democrats want the government to protect them from the dangers of free capitalism that has made them rich...

You're absolutely right, I'm hoping Romney will do something about this situation. Tax working people and give their money to lazy people is one of the most stupid ideas I have ever seen!
