But don't worry. During the last 10 years US graduates are taking a nose dive. But I'm guessing that teaching children education is "just a piece of paper" and "delegitimizing education by teaching the controversy" and calling colleges and college professors names and complaining scientists are lazy and on the government dole has nothing to do with it.

Conservatives want a return to the "50's" when the country was doing so well.

Of course, the tax rate for the top 1% was like 90% so it wasn't all good. Rich people were really suffering.

OTB was a major income stream for the state of NY. Look at what Vegas does in betting. The state of NY had a MONOPOLY ON LEGAL BETTING in the state for off track betting. All profit went right into public coffers. You know an industry that earns trillions of dollars? And they operated at a net LOSS!

They give a certain amount of autonomy to Hong Kong..because they don't want to chase out the bankers..but the rest of the country pretty much does what the central planners want them to do.

I was in Hong Kong before the commies and after. There use to be Boat People in Aberdeen bay. The Brits collected taxes from them in the form of eggs and other goods. They sort of added charm to Hong Kong. After the commies..they were booted. No questions asked. As was anyone that couldn't "afford" to live there.

That's hilarious. I was over there in 96, a year before they were handed back over to China and in 2003. I remember the boat people. Do you remember the old airport?! That was always a thriller when landing, limited runway, skyscrapers.

Food was awesome over there, especially the little carts in the streets.

That airport was interesting to say the least. Once flew in on a very windy day that added even a bit more drama to the approach.

Once when I was there was when John Denver died. Everywhere I looked was his picture on the front of Chinese and other language newspapers, but of course couldn't find any English ones when I needed one. But I knew something was up with the guy. Finally at a news stand I just sorta of blurted out what's wrong with John Denver for all to hear, hoping someone understood English. Finally some Chinese guy looks me in the eyes and says, "Him dead."

Why is every State controlled by the Democrat machine a failed State..

Examples.. California, New York, Nevada... etc...

These are not failed states; however, as all states they are facing budget problems. Nevada is control largely by casinos, which in a recession is going to be the hardest hit for discretionary spending is the first to go, and the industry depends upon a healthy economy that former President Bush screwed up. In New York marginal workers are hardest hit, which can drain an economy that is control largely by Wall Street that crashed, not taxes. California was affected in large part by the movie industry moving around the country and various computer companies out sourced jobs even before they moved out. In general conservative states are the poorest with the worst schools, worst health care, worst services, most impoverish folks, and in general the dumbest population that listens to any B.S. there masters tell them; for instance: after losing eight-million jobs in ten years, we have a job increase about 156,000 jobs, and Eric Canter says you see the tax cuts are working! Huh, now that's some funny shit! Still many conservative idiots will go for it, although the only thing that tax cuts for the rich does is line their rich pockets. Tax cuts in 1920's caused a huge depression. Tax cuts by Ronald Reagan caused the huge recession. Tax cuts by George W. Bush caused a recession/depression. Huge tax cuts for the rich will not create jobs; it’s demand that grow jobs, and workers with jobs with tax cuts for workers will create demand which will create jobs. That’s basic economics.

The elections worked very well for me, because most of the Democratic congress that fell were closet Repugs, the blue dogs, and the population felt that it is better to have a real republican than a phony democrat. Now the Republicans won't be able to hide behind closet Democrats when a good bill fail like the public option which would have saved billions of dollars while providing great health-care! Now the Repugs will have to stand on their own bottom, and in 2012, these traditional Democrats will have a chance to vote for a real Democratic candidate.

Yea i often ask the same question. Most Democrat-controlled States are Third World failures. It's so sad because the People in most of those States keep re-electing Third World failure. Red States are definitely on the rise while Blue States are crumbling. It is what it is i guess.

This is quite a puzzling little "observation". The richest states in the union are heavily Democratic. The most educated states skew highly Democratic. The lowest poverty rates skew heavily Democratic.

But somehow, these states are failures.
