Defiant Wilson raises more than $200,000 after outburst

IMHO - radicalism is in the inability to work toward your goals incrementally. It's an all or nothing mentailty. It's the approach the post WW II Palestinians took in the negotiations to establishing a Jewish state in the middle east. Didn't work that well for them did it? See what that has relagated them to?

Radicals want it all their way - 100% - RIGHT NOW and they are willing to bring everyone and everything crashing down if they don't get it.

Their have been notable examples on the far right and on the far left.
Incrementalism is the tool of Fabian socialists.

What "incremental" method would you have used to free the slaves in 1865?

Actually the slaves were freed incrementally, first those in the states at war with the Union, and then later, all the rest, mostly, as apparently there are instances of there still being slaves in the US, just not in that particular context...

and since it took more than 100 years for blacks to become completely free and equal participants in U.S. society - I would call the process PAINFULLY incremental.

Why would rewording it to say the same thing it already said cause the crazies to stop making outrageous claims?

omg -- it was intentionally ambiguously worded.

No, it wasn't.

Yes, it was.

They were hoping no one would read it and understand it and it would go through and low and behold, Ezekiel Emanuel would get to implement his rationing shit.

That's completely false. Emanuel hasn't proposed "rationing shit" and if you want to get into his stance on euthanasia, he wrote a pretty well-known column about a decade ago opposing physician-assisted suicide.

Mr. Gingrich, who is considered even by critics to be deeply knowledgeable on policy issues, has defended the statements made by Mrs. Palin, a potential rival for the 2012 Republican nomination to run for president against Mr. Obama.

Mr. Gingrich thinks that some of the new bureaucracy created by current versions of health care legislation, combined with the explosion of another $1 trillion or so in government spending, will lead to greater government control of all health care. Once that happens, he said, the thinking expressed by Dr. Emanuel that quantifies the value of certain human lives over others will permeate the decision-making process.

"These bills establish many agencies, commissions and offices with substantial power to redefine health care," Mr. Gingrich said in a statement e-mailed by a spokesman. "As health care costs continue to rise, the government will look for ways to save money. It is reasonable to expect that many of the people this administration would appoint to these new government bodies would be sympathetic to the views described by Dr. Emanuel."

The charges of rationing, or concerns about his language in journal articles, Dr. Emanuel said, is somewhat understandable given that he was "writing really for political philosophers, and for the average person it's not what they're used to reading, even if they've had a good liberal education."

Nonetheless, a spokesman for Sen. Tom Coburn, Oklahoma Republican and a practicing physician, said the senator remains "concerned about the rationing provisions in the House and Senate bills."

Coburn spokesman John Hart said: "On three different occasions during the [Senate Health, Education and Labor and Pensions] committee markup, Dr. Coburn and other Republicans attempted to insert language prohibiting rationing.

"All three amendments were voted down, which suggests that Democrats do, in fact, want to preserve the ability to ration care," Mr. Hart said.

Palin target renounces care rationing - Washington Times

In fact, after promising to “make sure that no government bureaucrat .... gets between you and the health care you need,” the President repeated his call for an Independent Medicare Advisory Council -- an unelected, largely unaccountable group of bureaucrats charged with containing Medicare costs. He did not disavow his own statement that such a group, working outside of “normal political channels,” should guide decisions regarding that “huge driver of cost ... the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives....” He did not disavow the statements of his health care advisor, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, and continuing to pay his salary with taxpayer dollars proves a commitment to his beliefs. The President can keep making unsupported assertions, but until he directly responds to the arguments I’ve made, I’m going to call him out too.

Had they simplified it to merely reimburse the docs, thus removing the 'death panel' bits, it wouldn't have yielded the results they wanted so they pulled it as a <cough, cough> "gesture of compromise". They got caught trying to pull a fast one.

Rewording to it to say what is already said wouldn't have gotten the results they wanted? Do you even think before you speak?

Had they reworded it in simpler language they wouldn't have gotten the results they wanted - - - rationing.

Wilson directly asked in a Web video for campaign cash to fend off attacks from political opponents and said he's standing by his opposition to Democratic efforts at health care reform.
(CNN) — Less than a day after Rep. Joe Wilson formally apologized to President Obama over his "you lie" outburst, a campaign aide confirms to CNN the South Carolina Republican has raised "more than $200,000″ in the wake of the now-infamous moment.

News of that cash haul comes after Wilson directly asked in a Web video for campaign cash to fend off attacks from political opponents and said he's standing by his opposition to Democratic efforts at health care reform.

"On these issues, I will not be muzzled, I will speak up and speak loudly against this risky plan," Wilson said in a YouTube video released Thursday evening. "The supporters of the government takeover of health care and the liberals who want to give health care to illegals are using my opposition as an excuse to distract from the critical questions being raised about this poorly conceived plan."

The congressman disbursed the video via Twitter and asked his followers to "please watch and pass on."

"[Democrats] want to silence anyone who speaks out against it," Wilson also says in the video. "They made it clear they want to defeat me and pass the plan. I need your help now… contribute to my effort to defeat the proponents of government-run health care."

You know if this idiot would simply read HR3200 he would know it spells out NO COVERAGE FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS. Can he not read? Or is he simply too lazy?

if it does or not is meaningless, the fact that this SHIT is FORCED onto people who want NOHTING to do wiht it proves that obama is nothing but a fucking totalitarian cock smoking fuck head!!!

They would be buying insurance that is highly - if not entirely - subsidized by tax payer dollars. That's why it is a public option nim rod.

Instead of demanding an apology, the Dems should ask Joe Wilson to explain how he can be against health care reform when he enjoys government health care himself.

:eusa_eh:

The guy is a hypocrite, just like RGS. Amazing.
No one seems to want to address that. All of Congress has government administerd healthcare, as does the military.
Works great for them.

Do you support NO COVERAGE FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS?

You see, the thing is, that things like Patient Verification and Tort Reform are pretty decent ideas.

I'm not so sure how they'd be implemented, and details would have to be worked out, but they are in fact pretty decent ideas that I, as a liberal, wouldn't mind seeing added to the existing proposed bill.

The problem is that Republicans have not actually been trying to work with Democrats to get their proposals added to the bill.

Instead they have been insisting that the whole thing be scrapped, and a whole new be started based on only their proposals.

It seems to me that if some Republicans take a more proactive stance here and lend their support to the bill if some of their ideas are added, then we would be having a much better time of it.

And shouting "You Lie" on the floor during the president's speech, especially when he's not lying, is not helping anyone.

As far as I'm concerned it boils down to this. The "health care debate" is about lazy ass democrats, (who don't contribute to charities) telling us republicans, (who do contribute to charities) that we must pay a tax to help the people that we are already helping so that the democrats can feel like they contributed something to helping somebody without ever having to pay a penny of their own.

Cheap bastards, those democrats.

Ah but you see he was lying. There is no language in the bill to stop the illegals from getting care because there is no requirement for proof of citizenship. You really need to stop lying to achieve your goals. We will call you on it at every turn.

Not so..Obama just wants to tax people like you...maybe specifically you...He wants to crush you personally under the weight of government paid abortions and free care for mexican illegals. How clear could this be? Stupid people have all the good MacDonalds jobs and make all the money. I say bury the dumb fucks. If that doesn't wipe em out we can consider reparations to blacks for slavery.

Me I do well now and am projecting several million over the next few years. What I need you to do sparky is hound your reps to give me more tax cuts. I've been eyeballing Paul Allens yaght and feel like its my right for you to help me pay for one like it.

he has read it DUmbass and he knows as well as the rest of us that the demoncwats voted DOWN all measures that would keep illegals from receiving the "public option" that's why he called obamalama a liar. Writing a thing and enforcing it are entirely two different things.. but then that's why you are DUmmies!

And the Congressman was entirely correct. He read it two times in fact. So his outburst was justitifed. One has to ask how many times was it repeated in homes across America? I'd say a bunch seeing that he's getting wide support.

Many people I've talked to wish it was them that called Obama out that night. They see it too.

Tomorrow will be telling.

Nice post by the way.

I love it. The plan says no money to illegal immagrants, but does nothing to stop them from going to the emergency room with an injured child. Defiant Wilson doesn't like that.

Can Republicans tell an a parent, "Sorry, the kid will just have to die."

Guess so.

What complete asshattery. The hospitals treat regardless of ability to pay. Unless you are unfortunate to go to one of the hospitals where MICHELLE OBAMA works, in which case you will be shuffled off to a different clinic.

What Republicans will tell the parents is: Your child will be seen, then you will either pay or apply to a charitable institution to pay it off for you. Or you will disappear into the hinterlands from whence you came, and we will continue to pay your bill.

However, do not EXPECT us to pay your medical bill. Get all the medical care you like, and no hospital will allow a child to die because you're an illegal (that's the asshatery) but you are responsible for the bill. Our programs are for our citizens.

Besides which, illegals can already get healthcare....if they are pregnant or victims of DV. No citz verification required, no income verification required, no social security card required, nothing. And the kids of illegals are for the most part born in the US, and therefore LEGAL and eligible for ALL our programs.

Fucking knee jerk, ignorant, spasmodit, dimwit.

Section 246. Read it.

I read it and it's very ambiguous. It doesn't say that illegal aliens will not be covered it simply states:

SEC. 246. NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS.

Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.
exactly, with no way to verify

Works great for them.

And as the VA is SHITTY, and a reneg on the promise made to Veterans. Congres, this Government should be ashamed. And the VA is the TIP of the iceberg.

The Congress wouldn't want it. I suggest that they "Switch DOWN" and see if they like it?

Hell? Ask them if THEY are gonna opt for what they want to foist on the REST of us?

Of course you know damned well what the answer would be. Liberal Limousine Doublespeak, better known at the Potamic "Two Step".
