The liberal leaders of the city were offended at Denis- a leading Christian clergyman- preaching the good news of Jesus H. Christ on the streets of Paris.
So they ordered him to be beheaded at Montmartre in Paris.
History is clear with how Denis responded. He picked his head off the ground and walked to the suburb of Saint-Denis, continuing to preach the Christian faith to the public before expiring in Saint-Denis.
Pictures are available online of the event, however this did occur before the invention of photography.
Libs poo-poo Denis's trek, pointing out correctly that ite was downhill and not nearly as challenging as the reverse trip would have been. But Denis was obviously losing a lot of blood, going uphill would have been asking too much.
