The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates in its alternative fiscal scenario that U.S. publicly held debt will grow to 180 percent (exceeding the current Greek-level) by 2039. Yet U.S. debt is already in the danger zone, dragging down present-day growth prospects.

A Scary Thought Could America Become the Next Greece The National Interest

We actually had less poverty in 1965, then our political leadership decided we needed a "War on Poverty." Well, fifty years later and about $20 Trillion in "income redistribution," we have more poverty today than in 1965. Why is that? Our federal government has 125 Federal Anti-poverty programs which distribute money, food, tax credits, housing allowances, child care, health care, and telephones. Nothing like this EVER existed in our country until the New Deal;but even then, President Roosevelt wanted people to provide labor for government assistance. He did not want a nation on the dole.

There is no incentive to get a job when I can stay at home for the same pay. Just wait on someone else to pay my way. Self pride is something some rich folks talk about.

Being a man today doesn't mean what it used too.

"The next Greece?"

You mean to be a part of a fixed exchange system with an uncompetitive economy when you can't devalue or print your currency and most of your debt is held by other governments demanding you abide by austerity or leave the currency union?

The answer would be "no."

Most people have jobs... and most people would happily work a job if offered to them.

The real problem is that the rich would replace you with a machine, send your job to China, or make one person do the work that used to be done by three. All while making them work harder while paying them less.

So essentially, Capitalism has failed. Time to try something else.

The elites found a way to break the system. When inner city scum who don't work, and pop out welfare coupons, can vote for who gives them the best deal on our hard earned money, you can never really go back.

Look at the states with the largest cities, they are fooled into being career democrats, and that is deciding elections. Also they are the people who hate this country the most, and could care less what these assholes like Obama and Clinton will do. And it's clear it's full socialist party now.

Now there are insane assholes who want felons voting now, yeah I bet those people don't hate America. To whom it may concern, that was sarcasm.

Capitalism has not failed, socialism has failed, everywhere it has been.

It only fails for lazy do nothings, who don't want to strive to achieve.

The problem is, you really think this is true.

Most people on governmetn assistance have jobs. Most people on welfare are only on welfare for a couple of years.

Big Corporations like Wal Mart and McDonalds don't pay a living wage, and then tell their employees how to apply for Food Stamps and Medicaid....

And people like you blame the poor.

No I blame the criminals, you have trouble with reading?

Some links to back up your claim that most people have jobs and would work if offered one would be helpful.

You forget the Privately Owned Federal Reserve. QE Unlimited. The North American Union (Signed by Bush II) And the soon to be Trans Pacific Partnership.

The US Government takes in RECORD amounts of Taxes yet STILL runs a Deficit.

Yes, the US will become another Greece, but in a more U.S. flag waving style.

Here's a skewed ratio on the welfare takers who are 4.1% of the population

Percent of recipients who are white 38.8 %
Percent of recipients who are black 39.8 %

And you're wrong. Most people are on welfare for 2-5 years is 26.9%, with the second leader coming in at over a whopping FIVE years are 19.6%

So since when does a 'couple years' equal five years or more?

I suppose for those people who never had a good paying job to begin with, or managed to work their way up to one, sitting at home on welfare just might pay as much for them as working,
To them I would say, learn a trade, or get an education. Either way you'll live a more productive life and for those who depend on you, they too will be much better off in the end, so the incentive is there for you to better yourself.

I'm just wondering, what would you suggest?

Would you pay Mcdonalds workers the same wage as a truck driver? Or pay wal-mart employees the same wage as a doctor?

How can we fix it? If you take the rich out of the equation, then who do the working class work for?

Actually, the working class work for the consumers of their labors.

The rich aren't "job producers', they are parasites that have convinced stupid people that they are vital organs.

Case in point. A crazy rich person decides he's going to spend 20 million manufacturing and selling Shit Sandwiches(TM). So let's say he buys the equipment and hires 50 people to apply the shit to bread.

Now, here's the thing. No one is going to buy a Shit Sandwich. So really, all that rich person did was throw away his money.

NO, what sustains a WalMart or a McDonalds is that CUSTOMERS come in every day and buy their products.

and their products aren't provided unless working people- not rich people- are there to make them.

So, yeah, those people should be paid by the people who benefit from their work, not by the taxpayer subsidizing a rich person's work force.

Or at the very least, if that's what we are going to do, then we should increase taxes on the Krochs and the Waltons to compensate us for the cheap labor they are being provided.

You know what, buddy. We have airline pilots who are selling their blood plasma to make ends meet.

We have adjunct professors on Food Stamps.

So the "Why don't you go out and get some skills" argument doesn't fly. A lot of people did go out and get skills, and the Rich are cheating them anyway.
