Nat Geo's been showing the original series ahead of the 2014 version. Looking in on it while other stuff was at commercial, I got hooked. Though kinda dark and moody reflecting the fear of the height of the Cold War, Sagan's observations and moral arguements are amazing. For those alone it's worth a view. Science is 34 years out-of-date and some things have changed, but his repeated statements against nationalism, superstition (religion,) and such pushing the one-world one-people sentiment is beautifully stated. And when you understand he was one of the scientific advisors for the BBC nuclear holocaust movie "Threads" his sentiments make a lot of sense.
