Sen. Roy Ashburn arrested on suspicion of drunk driving

State Sen. Roy Ashburn (R-Bakersfield) was arrested early Wednesday morning on suspicion of drunk driving.
Ashburn was arrested just before 4 a.m. by California Highway Patrol officers in Sacramento, according to public records and law enforcement officials. The arrest was confirmed by Sacramento County sheriff's spokeswoman Sharon Chow.
Online arrest records show Ashburn was arrested at 3:56 a.m. and released later in the morning. Ashburn was scheduled to appear Wednesday morning at a press conference advocating his bill to allow rural hospitals to directly employ physicians.
The press conference was canceled due to a "personal emergency," according to press conference organizers. Ashburn has served in the Legislature since 1996. He is barred by the state term limits law from seeking reelection this year.
An aide at his Capitol office said no one was immediately available for comment.

I learned on Wednesday night that religious bigot Lou Sheldon was bringing his anti-gay Traditional Values Coalition(TVC) to my hometown of Bakersfield the following Saturday. Our local State Senator, Roy Ashburn was to host a rally to promote an agenda against marriage equality, domestic partnerships, and gay & lesbian rights in general. Assemblyman Bill Maze and City Councilman Mike Maggard were also scheduled to speak, along with some local religious leaders.
Gawd, these awful family values people who stand up in public and condemn others for behavior that is benign compared to how they live their personal lives.
I bet he gets a liberal lawyer to protect his civil rights.

It is my hope these misfits stay off the roads.Capitol Resource Family Impact is pleased to announce its Legislative Scorecard for the last legislative session, which ran from 2007 to 2008.

When Glenn Richardson stepped down as speaker of the Georgia House in a sex scandal with a lobbyist, it was widely denounced as another politician who ran on “family-values” while living la vida loca. Voters of Paulding Country, however, quickly replaced him with another Republican running on family values, Rep. Daniel Stout. Stout, however, may be a bit too close to family: he was divorced in 10 years ago after his wife accused him of having an affair with her mother while she was pregnant with his child.

Former Upstate NY Politician Arrested In Seedy Motel Kiddie Porn Sting
Why so seedy?Three cheers, for Cocktober is in full swing! Some tragic former upstate New York assemblyman and current parole board member was busted for allegedly arranging a date with what he thought would be an underage person but turned out to be the State Police. Hmm! Our fake fantasy victim has no gender here in this write-up.
Thus, the world has yet to find out whether Republican Chris Ortloff expected to meet up with a little boy or a little girl in his sad motel room crammed with child porn and sex paraphernalia. Maybe neither! First and foremost: Pedophiles should be put down like a mad dog, in my opinion.
Secondly, let's try not to pretend as if pedophiles are exclusive to one party or the other. As to the whole "preaching family values" thing, I'm pretty sure that pedophiles of both political stripes say and do whatever they have to in order to hide their predilection.
