So, students are being taught that the Bill of Rights is outdated and needs to be rewritten. And they are told to choose two rights we should give up. This is bullshit. Might be different if the goal was to show them that none should be removed/replaced, but I think we all know that is not the case. They are being taught that the constitution and bill of rights are old and not relevant anymore. They are also being taught that wealth redistribution (socialism) is the only fair way.

I am relieved that some states are rejecting this. Common Core is quickly becoming an issue for the next election. More and more parents are getting fed up as they see the garbage being fed to their children at school.

A mother in Arkansas has expressed concern over her daughter’s recent Common Core school assignment that asked her to remove and replace two of the first ten amendments of the Constitution. The team assignment stated that the Bill of Rights is “outdated and may not remain in its current form any longer.”

Sounds like an interesting topic for starting a unit on Bill of Rights. Since twelve amendments were originally put forth and only ten passed what two of the original twelve were dropped? Would those two dropped Amendments be more valuable today than say the the third bill of right? Why were they dropped? Why did some founders insist on a Bill of Rights, what was their reasoning? And on and on.

Of course, we all know that isn't happening. It's just a blatant attempt to brainwash kids into believing that it's smart to give up their Constitutional rights.

I've been on a political warpath with the Republican party for a few months now and in doing some research between my rants I found something I have NEVER KNOWN until last week. I found this thing about an entry into the Congressional Record back in 1963. It's a list of 45 goals for a Communist overthrow of America.

Number 17 on that list:
"Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for Socialism, and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers associations. Put the party line in text books."

In a very short 50-year period I'd say "We've [Communists] come a long way, baby!!!"

Damned near every item on that list has already come to pass or is very quickly coming to fruition.

And if parents and local representatives don't put a stop to it RIGHT NOW the Progressives will steal the minds of America's young and convince them that freedom is a privilege given by an all powerful State.

Everything is 'liberal indoctrination' to you loons these days. Train your kids to close their eyes and plug their ears. That'll make them super conservative

If an idea is the brainchild of the liberal left and if the liberal left attempts to indoctrinate the minds of America's young then the result is "Liberal Indoctrination." It's really not that hard to see or figure out.

Yea. Close your eyes and buy some earplugs. You won't have to think ever again

Look at the jerks posting here. They are disciples of Bill Ayers and the Communists.

The Common Core curriculum is the 21st Century equivalent of a full on Communist invasion of America aimed at our CHILDREN!!!

THEY ARE BECOMING ZOMBIFIED.

And I heard Jeb Bush supports Common Core.

Can anyone confirm or dispell this rumor?

Me, a Commie?????!!!!!! Hell, no, I'm just a really, really pissed off Republican right about now. I can see where you might have thought I was saying I was a Commie - poor wording on my part. Mea culpa.

Common core is utter BS. It's a way to dumb down and lower standards so those with less abilities are seen as better by changing the core values of education. Thus potentially holding back those that excel by reducing the education for the average and below average students.

One thing that we should learn is that Congressmen can put almost anything they want in the Congressional Record and as long as it relates to being a Congressman it is privilaged speech and they cannot be held for it. The Congressional Record is a poor source.

Congressional Record is an acceptable source to informed and intelligent persons.

Reading much of the above far right reactionary nonsense makes me realize the local non-common core school programs in which they were taught, actually, did not teach them how to critically think or research or formulate a concept and then test it.

Actually, he introduced a constituent who provided the verbiage.

I found this article a bit perplexing on several counts.

First of all Common Core is an organization composed of the Council of Chief State School Officers and the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices representing 44 states, mostly red states. It's purpose is to develop educational standards in k-12 Mathematics and English Language Arts by sharing information between the states. They do not develop material in American History, Civics, or Science which immediately raises the question as how an assignment to modify the constitution would be attributed to the work or Common Core's development of standards in English and Math.

Decisions on implementation of standards, curriculum development, and development of teacher guides are made at the state and local level. Common Core provides a conduit for sharing information between states to improve standards in Math and English. They do not tell teachers what to teach or how to teach it. They do not develop classroom material or assignments.

I know very little about Common Core and would appreciate any information as to how Common Core is connected to classroom exercises they don't produce in a discipline that they are not involved in.

Edward Bernay's called it programming and he learned it from his Uncle Sigmund Freud.

"Give me the youth, and Germany will rule the World" - Adolf Hitler

It starts in Kindergarten. We're given pictures to color in and to stay within the lines. What if they changed that you were allowed to draw your own picture and color it any way you wanted to? That would be way too much freedom of thought and you might not learn to "follow" directions later in life.
