Good old Chuck is a true patriot with a deep love for our country.
He points out some things I was unaware of in here too.
Thomas Jefferson made the original draft & had a long paragraph blaming the slave trade on King George but it was removed from the final draft.
They should've kept it in & ended slavery then but that would've cost them the support of the Southern states & hindsight is 20/20.

In the end, Jefferson was troubled by their revisions, especially Franklin and Adams’ removal of a diatribe blaming British King George III for the transatlantic slave trade. Who knows? Maybe if that paragraph were left in the document, our founders might not be maligned as much today for being pro-slavery.

Also, about 3x's more soldiers died as prisoners than actually died fighting.
It say we only had about 4400 combat fatalities.

Over the six years of war, more than 12,000 prisoners died in prisons, compared to 4,435 soldiers who died in combat. And that’s just a sampling of what these men sacrificed, and why we honor what they did for us annually on Independence Day.

Happy 4th everyone!

It would not have mattered

The Left merely ignores what they wish, that means Leftism in academia and the media as well.

Whatever some actor thinks about stuff that shooda and wooda been included in the Declaration of Independence is inconsequential. It is perhaps the most remarkable document in history and set the stage for the first Country in human existence to be governed by the people. It was a difficult decision to make and Franklin said it best "we must hang together or surely we will hang separately".
