The Chinese aircrafts flew through Pakistan and Iran to arrive in Konya, Turkey.
The War games with China come as Chinese President will visit Turkey from 8th to 9th October.

Sometime during September, an unknown number of China's People's Liberation Army Air Force Russian-built Su-27 and Mig-29 fighters landed at the huge Konya airbase in Turkey's central Anatolia region. Within a few days they were training with Turkish US-built F-16 fighters in the first ever military exercise of its kind between China and a NATO country.

The Chinese are expanding their joint exercises throughout the world. For them this gives their military practical experience with modern militaries that they desperately need. The modernization of their armed forces is coming along quite fast but experience is something that you cannot buy but must earn. these exercises also gives them a sense of the capability of the F-16 (Export models are not up to par with US models) and what to expect in a possible conflict with Japan and or the US over Taiwan. You can expect more of these ventures in the future. The Chinese are already conducting joint naval exercises with I believe Sri Lanka being the latest.

F-16 are built in Turkey.
- mission computer
- friend-foe system
- laser seeker
- helmet-cueing system etc.
are all indegineious.

The US does not controll the most critical part of the Aircraft, which is the mission computer. It is this computer where you make changes, so the Aircraft becomes less capable then exact US counterpart.

We need to destabilise the commies in China.

We should provide bombs to the Muslim freedom fighters in China and upgrade Taiwan's defence capability.

We should give weapons to India and to Chinese-backed insurgents fighting India. The idea is to get India pissed off enough to declare war on China. Even if China nukes India into the stone age, that is OK, as long as India takes out Shanghai and Beijing.

Every opportunity to show the Chinese that we own em should be taken.

God bless UK and USA.

You are 30 years to late.

No. The timing is right.

We must support a major Islamic insurgency in China. This is very possible.

We must also send our boys into India and attack Indian positions near the Chinese border. If we do this right the Indians will think the Chinese are killing them. India will nuke China and China will nuke India, and we get rid of both upstartts in one go!!!!

God bless USA and UK.

Let us remember that it was Obama that pissed off the Chinese so much over the Taiwan deal that they cut off military exercises with the US, under Bush US-Chinese relations improved, under Obama they got much worse.

As for ekrem: I hope the US withdraws from Turkey, its a waste of time having a military base there, Turkey is an unstable nation anyway...especially with the rising Islamic movements, as many of the terrorists threatening Europe recently came through and from Turkey.

As for British bulldog: You are so full of shit there. China isn't communist its state capitalist, they replaced a communist state that controls everything with a capitalist state that controls everything.

In addition Taiwan will come part of China some day in the next century, especially due to Chinese economic growth rapidly turning it first world (nor can it hold back the people's demand for Democracy for much longer), in any case once that happens China will stop being the percieved threat it is now, and it will actively fight Islamists, as it doesn't think much of radical religious nut-cases, state Atheism helps that way.

Turkey and China aim to raise bilateral trade to $50 billion a year by 2015 from about $17 billion currently under a new "strategic partnership", the prime ministers of the two countries said on Friday.
"We have decided bilaterally to establish a strategic partnership in our relations," visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao told a news conference with Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan in the capital Ankara.

Both countries also switch from $ to their own currencies in trading.

Turkey and China are the fastest-growing economies in the Group of 20 leading nations
The announcement, which analysts labelled "significant," marks Beijing's latest move to broker arrangements to trade in local currencies, in an effort to develop the international use of the yuan. "China does this with the trade partners that it believes will be beneficial to it in future ... It clearly sees Turkey as a big potential trade partner," said Hans Redeker, chief currencies analyst at BNP Paribas in London.

Mr. China, in next Air Force drill we expect you again.

China Premier Wen Jiabao, described the transaction as a new "strategic partnership", saying he recognized Turkey's "power and influence in the international community and its region".

Both countries - the fastest growing economies in the world - sealed agreements to cooperate in energy, transport and infrastructure.

One of the agreements would open the way for the joint construction of 4,500-kilometer railway in Turkey. Chinese companies are already involved in the construction of railroads for two high-speed train links. Turkey and China are also involved in projects to build oil pipelines from Iran.

Yes, the Chinese are starting to be good capitalists. Where the US used to have money the chinese are stepping in. International influence through economic assistance is an area in which the US is fading and rightly so. We cannot continue to build up other countries infrastucture and ignore our own failing bridges and roads.

The strategic importance of Turkey to the US dimished with the demise of the old Soviet Union.

I am quite pleased, China will soon own Turkey and invade. I will hold "I love China" and "Thanks for freeing Turkey" signs outside the Chinese Embassy here when that happens. ;)

The Turkish economy has grown from 26th largest in 2002 to 16th largest in 2010.
Turkey has better credit default swap ratings then some EU members.
There is no problem in liquidity for Turkey.

That we take money from China shows just one fact:
China proposes better conditions then the free-market.

The question is what drives China ? Given that both Airforces also now hold exercises and both leaders have commited to raising bilateral trade to 50 Billion $ by 2015.
Or is China just trying to enhance relations to a country which is dominateing this area economically and year after year widens the gap to all other so-called "regional powers" of this area?

Nothing like China runs Turkey as you describe it.
One step further, China and Turkey should negotiate relocation of Uyghur Turks to Anatolia. It is a win-win situation for both countries.
