Victoria Woods said her daughter Isabelle was punched, kicked, and thrown down a hill in Wildmoore Avenue Park, Oldham, on Wednesday in an unprovoked attack after she was set on by a group of around 15 youths — none of whom she knew, Manchester Evening News reported.

Recalling how her daughter was “in floods of tears” after the attack, which left her with bruising, deep scratches, and “caked in mud”, Ms. Woods described the response from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) over the incident as “diabolical”.

A day after reporting the assault she received a telephone call from a female officer who explained that police would not be taking the case any further “because it wasn’t a major crime and it was ‘just kids fighting’, in her words,” Ms. Woods said.

Far too often we see individuals being targeted because of who they are: gay, lesbian, disabled, Muslim, Jewish, Asian, Black or alternative subculture. The hate comes in many forms from verbal abuse and hateful messages in graffiti, through to criminal assaults and damage. Most people living and working in Greater Manchester will never experience this kind of abuse or hatred. I am sure many will be appalled that it even happens, but it does. Now it's Merry Olde England, land of ASB orders and all that tripe, and people are SCARED to speak ---- but still -- I'd expect ONE of residents to bring it up if it was the case.

I don't LIVE there. I've worked close to Manchester and visited but I don't know. All I know is that 2 respondents who are residents say the SAME issues existed before any "cuts"..

I don't LIVE there. I've worked close to Manchester and visited but I don't know. All I know is that 2 respondents who are residents say the SAME issues existed before any "cuts"..

I followed the links and found just the opposite - see my post above.

Elsewhere, there's a thread where I posted links showing that most shooters are white males. From the links I read, it looks likely that these "thugs" are white males.

Point I was making still stands. Why assume any particular ethnicity? Why talk in "dog whistles". There's plenty of blame to go around and yes, this might be fill in the blank with a color, religion, etc but I disagree with what longknife was saying in his last line.

Police in northern England do not pursue cases of crimes against children when it involves Muslims. They have an extremely clear and consistent pattern in that regard. In addition, the British routinely scrubs any mention of ethnicity as a way to protect Islam.
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.
