CBO: Obamacare to cost $1.76 trillion over 10 yrs

How much will the deaths of tens of thousands of Americans from lack of health care cost?

Especially considering this omission. from the CBO:
Moreover, the CBO estimates that 4 million Americans will lose their employer-sponsored health plans by 2016, a far cry from the 1-million-person figure forecasted last year. Further yet, 1 million to 2 million fewer people will be granted access to the federally-subsidized healthcare exchanges, while an additional 1 million are estimated to qualify for Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Provision.

Affordable healthcare for all Americans

This was a failure from day one. Greenbeard and the lib posse have denied this the whole time.

It was a failure because as we see, it is not affordable, nor is it healthcare. It is another slush fund for the Party.

Going for the jugular next week in the Supreme Court. The ruling should be out by summer.

I just cannot wait for the libtards to come in here and say that almost doubling the cost of Obamacare is not a big deal.

It didn't double the cost, the reason that analysis costs more is because it include more years. If you actually read the CBO report they say that Obamacare now is expected to cost 50billion less the they first thought

Obamacare overall reduces overall spending, meaning we cant afford not to have obamacare

'Estimates' and 'projections' which the CBO will change soon enough.
Yep and their projections in their last report showed obamacare costing 50billion less then they thought
'Related spending'= rationed care.
:eusa_shhh:
Heaklht care is already rationed thats why 50million people dont have insurance and 50% of Americans forgo meedical care because of costs

WOW! What a tool you are starzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Obamacare reduces overall spending, right. There are no comprehensive government healthcare programs that save money period. Never have been never will be.

CBO and JCT now estimate that the insurance coverage provisions of the ACA will have a net cost of just under $1.1 trillion over the 2012–2021 period—about $50 billion less than the agencies’ March 2011 estimate for that 10-year period (see Table 1, following the text).3

When you actually bother to read the report....

Fewer people are now expected to obtain health insurance coverage from their employer or in insurance exchanges; more are now expected to obtain coverage from Medicaid or CHIP or from nongroup or other sources. More are expected to be uninsured.

One of my favorites:

The March 2012 baseline incorporates updated projections of the growth in private health insurance premiums, reflecting slower growth than the previous projections. In addition, CBO and JCT made a number of other technical changes in their estimating procedures.

CBO also now estimates that wages and salaries will be lower than it previously anticipated.
Those changes yield an increase in the projected number of people eligible for Medicaid and CHIP as a result of the ACA

Oh, and the part right after your quoted section. (What? You thought no one would look?):

The net costs reflect:
■ Gross additional costs of $1.5 trillion for Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), tax credits and other subsidies for the purchase of health insurance through the newly established exchanges and related costs, and tax credits for small employers,
■ Offset in part by about $0.4 trillion in receipts from penalty payments, the new excise tax on high-premium insurance plans, and other budgetary effects (mostly increases in tax revenues).

Short answer: Math magic.

Is that why the VA and medicare cost 40% less then private insurance despite providing better quality and more care?
I realize that in order to maintain your position on the subject you have to deny reality.

VA provides better care more inexpensively?

Despite ongoing efforts to reduce barriers to access and ensure the same high quality care for all Veteran groups, certain health disparities persist within the VHA health care system:
·
Veteran patients over age 65 receive slightly higher quality of outpatient care than younger Veterans, especially for preventive services.
·
Outpatient quality scores for women Veterans were lower than those for men for many measures, such as control of LDL cholesterol control, rates of vaccination, colorectal cancer screening, and screening for depression.
·
African-American Veterans across VA were less satisfied with inpatient and outpatient health care than White Veterans. It cannot be determined from the available data whether the differences in Veterans’ perceptions of their health care reflect actual differences in quality.

In 1999, the VA National Center for Patient Safety (NCPS) was established to lead the effort to improve the safety of patients cared for in the VA health system. One of the mechanisms that NCPS employs is the collection of reports of adverse events and close calls occurring at VA Medical Centers (VAMCs). Every year since 1999, the number of reports to NCPS has increased, with nearly 400,000 being received during Fiscal Years (FY) 2006 to 2009.

You can also note high RN turnover and overall satisfaction with the hospitals around 70%.

A review of the literature comparing VA to non-VA costs (Hendricks, 1999) found no evidence that VA costs were higher than the private sector. Most studies have noted the difficulty in comparing costs between systems in which the patients served and the scope of services provided are so different.
