Catholic Bishops Oppose Compromise on Birth-Control

Do Catholics have a problem with insurance paying for drugs to treat male erectile dysfunction - like Viagra?

Probably not, because without an erection, you can't get a woman pregnant, and if you don't get the woman pregnant, you can't raise good little dogma drones, because to be effective, they have to be taught from birth so that THEY can raise good little dogma drones.

The Catholics need the believers. And.........I've also started to see commercials for the Catholic church encouraging members who left to "come back home".

Can't be..CG says the Catholics wouldn't stoop to tv advertising..you hafta be LYING!!!!!

Cuz she's little miss can't be wrong and you don't have a twat so you couldn't be even if you wanted to be.

Please point out where in the first amendment it says that religious owned businesses can ignore the law?

It doesn't. It merely says that Congress can't prevent you from practicing your religion and it can't establish a state religion.

Nothing in this mandate keeps Catholics from believing the silly things they believe.

And when the Church starts expelling members for practicing birth control, then I'll take them seriously on this issue.

It does, however, say that Congress shall make no law that respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. That makes the law unconstitutional, and means everyone, even atheists, can ignore it. Your problem is you are thinking like an idiot, and you think we want the law to apply to everyone but us. We actually want it gone.

Get your head out of your ass and start actually discussing the issues and you might have a chance of actually learning something.

Plain and simple, it goes against the first amendment.

So all of you who don't seem to give a flying fuck about this one, should just shut up about all the BS you've been peddling about the Patriot Act and the TSA and God knows what else.

It's BS and it's no good for you.............

Yes I have already fired off letters to my congressman, both Senators, and the White House.......

Are you certain you are American?

I don't even think he is alive.

Are you certain you are American?

yup. I am. Now are you going to keep avoiding the point, Sarge?

How does this rule interfer in the free practice of religion in any way?

It doesn't. It's a law that governs business contracts. Nothing more, nothing less.

I try so hard to be patient and understanding..................

It forces the church to provide a service that is against its teachings.

Is that easy enough to understand? It is so simple that I would bet I could get kids in HS to understand it..... Now please bend over grab hold of your ears and give a hard sudden pull. The popping sound you hear will be your head coming out of your ass.

Well, Kids in High School wouldn't know it's a lie.

They are not being forced to provide services. They are providing health coverage that complies with the law. An insurance company provides the services. A doctor peforms them. Nothing here keeps them from practicing their religion.

By your logic, every Catholic in the Armed forces should have been able to apply for a Contientious Objector Discharge because the Pope declared the Iraq War immoral. Otherwise, you are interferring with their religion.

By your logic, we could all stop paying our taxes for the same reason.

Religious objections do not override compliance with the law. Sorry, they don't.

Again....

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;
Note that last part..... 'free exercise thereof. Congress does not have the right to define what 'free exercise thereof' means. They have no authority do define that. The 'free exercise thereof' includes a religion's right to run charities, schools, hospitals - because they are part of our religion.

You might be too stupid to understand it.... but others are not.

That's the most ignorant thing I've seen in this whole debate.

The Catholic church gets to claim that Notre Dame football games are 'religion' and therefore the lady hired to work a concession stand can be denied birth control in her health plan,

contrary to US law.

lolol

No, they get to argue that Congress cannot make laws that interfere with religion, and that no one has to provide birth control to anyone unless they choose to do so.

Again, you can't disobey the law because you morally object to it.

Otherwise, we could all refuse to pay our taxes on the notion that we object to War, Capital Punishment or whatever the government is doing that we could find a religious objection to.

  1. It is not a law.
  2. Civil disobedience is enshrined in our legal system.
  3. That means that we can disobey we law because we are morally opposed to it.
  4. If you look as far back as the 1960s you will see that disobedience to a law that people were morally opposed to resulted in the law being overturned.
You are definitely dumber than I thought. You just passed rdean on the scale and are approaching merril, which is a position you do not want to be in.

NO, sorry doesn't work that way.

Nothing in this law prevents you from being as backwards, hypocritical or superstitious as you want.

It just states that this is the standard for health plans. Pretty clearly written.

Again, I was wondering, when the Man in A Dress in Rome called the Iraq War Immoral, were you down at any anti-War rallies the next day?

Uh, it is a law. It's called the Affordable Health Care Act.

Civil disobeience might be part of the legal system, but you give up that right the minute your church takes money from the government as a contractor.

The Chuch's own membership isn't going to back them on this one, guy. The Bishops will be leading a parade where no one will follow.

I honestly wished these bishops showed this much outrage when little boys were being molested by priests.

Duly noted you couldn't answer the question.

If the church can refuse to provide Health coverage for its employees on religious objections, why can't a Catholic Soldier request a discharge from a war that his Pope- remember, the man in the dress Catholics think is talking to God - has called immoral?

Why can't Catholics refuse to pay their taxes on that basis?

Because there are laws that prevent that from happening.

Legally, the Church doesn't have a leg to stand on, and they know it. Which is why they are trying to get people worked up politically. But since 75% of Catholics think their position is crackers, it's gonna be a short parade.

This has nothing to do with the war, or the pedophiles in any church. It has to do with basic first amendment rights. But you are too stupid to understand that. Either that or your hatred for the church blinds you.

And no I am not catholic.....

Really. because you rarely see this kind of high grade idiocy outside of Catholicism.

Has nothing to do with the First Amendment. The first Amendment says the government can't interfer in your practice of religion.

It does not exempt you from obeying laws you don't like.

If you don't like the law, get the law changed. Most people want this law, so good luck with that.

Any American can apply for conscientious objector status. But why bother? Simply do not volunteer, there is no draft.........

I was specifically referring to the guy who is already in, who maybe signed up after 9/11, and then the Iraq war broke out and his Man in a Dress said it was an immoral war.

Why isn't he immediately entitled to a discharge from his contract?

What's your logic there, Sarge?

Uh, if it was a law it would have been voted on by Congress, HHS issued this rule without any vote in Congress. Learn civics.

How does the church taking money mean they give up rights? Do you give up your rights when you take money from the government?

What the members of the church do, or don't do, is meaningless. I will not sit by while the government infringes anyone's rights, even yours, even if you think it is a good idea.

I honestly wish you weren't a bigot, doesn't stop me from trying to interact intelligently with you.

Praise Allah and STFU

The soldier had every right to apply for objector status. I don't know if any did. But it still isn't the subject at hand. But you keep on hating.....
