Can we heal the divide?

suffering = open borders, out of control inflation, world at war, all because of the stupid acts of senile joe. There is no reason for our nation to decline into third world misery, the socialist dems have caused this mess, remove them from power and the country returns to normal.
See you make a nice sane sounding OP and then follow up with ridiculous accusations like Joe being responsible for the inflated price of goods and other countries who are at war. Come back to reality and learn how to have an honest conversation and that will do wonders in bridging the divide

Serious question: our nation is so divided right now that nothing positive is getting done. We, the citizens, are suffering like never before and our media has become the propaganda arm or one side or the other.

Can our nation survive this or is the only solution some sort of revolution or secession making us into two distinct countries?

comments welcome.

In my personal opinion.....the schism today between the Globalist Left and the Conservatives is very deep, very profound .....possibly beyond repair!

I am thinking more on the terms of two separate countries.

I don't see any other way out of this disaster.

Then fucking leave

I see divide as good or bad, depending on its type.

When the divide is centered on specific issues, policies, and candidates it gets rather interesting. I find this divide mostly heals itself as issues are settled and new things come up. As long as a person doesn't take the law into his own hands, I'm fine with it.

There's a lot of divides that I find senseless. I have no opinion over that, as I do my best to stay uninvolved.

I don't see 2 separate countries working. A lot of the division of opinion is divided between urban vs rural thought. Where population is dense, community cooperation is a much more accepted norm. Rural folks are used to being a lot more self-reliant.

I posted in this many times. I'm on the tablet, so can't say much. Policies are too extreme. Too black and white. Only meeting of the minds is if you go dem, like Maga Mike just did.

Dont think a seccession can happen. Too many problems. Reps can't fight dems. Time will tell, but looks to be over for the USA.¹

The divide in America can be attributed to several factors:

1. Political polarization: Increasingly extreme political ideologies have led to deep divisions between liberals and conservatives( Do you hate Red or Blue? ).

2. Economic inequality: Disparities in wealth and income have created tensions between different socioeconomic groups( 1% controls 99%, do you like revolving door? ).

3. Racial and ethnic tensions: Persistent discrimination and systemic racism have widened the gap between racial and ethnic groups( BLM and destruction of statues ).

4. Social media and echo chambers: Online platforms have facilitated the spread of misinformation and the creation of isolated ideological bubble( word warfare on the Net ).

5. Cultural differences: Divergent values and beliefs between urban and rural communities, as well as generational gaps, contribute to the divide( such as abortion ).

6. Education and information access: Disparities in education and access to accurate information can perpetuate misunderstandings and fuel divisions( no surprise if God or Snow White is black ).

7. Lack of empathy and dialogue: The erosion of empathy and civil discourse hinders efforts to bridge divides and find common ground( Americans prefer win-lose to win-win ).

Addressing these complex issues requires a multifaceted approach that promotes understanding, empathy, and constructive dialogue among Americans from all walks of life. :)

I’m just living my life and finding peace and joy where I can. I wish no one harm but the folks we see here cannot be reasoned with.
That's how I see it too. It's sad to watch this all happen, but its actual effects on me personally are minimal. It's clear that, for many here, it's a very important part of their lives.

It's also far more interesting in real life. They say up to 75% of communication is non-verbal, and obviously you can't see any of that here.

This place has value in seeing what people believe and how they behave, but interesting conversation with a hardcore ideologue is pretty rare.

Not exactly an intellectually honest OP.

Still fighting in Afghanistan under Trump but Joe Biden has navigated a tough world with finesse. Trump capitulated to our enemies. Love letters, I dont know why Putin would interfere, praise. You were there you heard it. Biden strengthened NATO. Trump purposely made it weaker.
Aw, did they have to start paying? Poor babies…

But the divide goes down right into neighborhoods, families, businesses. That is the worst solution.
It is like how someone who was against slavery felt to wake up and find his state seceded to PROTECT SLAVERY

Are you one of those China screamers we heard about, trying to divide America? I'm not buying into your huffy stuff about the MAGA movement.
Buying?

I'm not selling anything

I'm pointing and laughing.
