It is hyperbole. Unless we are going to change what the word genocide means. If Israel is trying to exterminate Palestinians they are doing a horrible job of it. There are more Palestinians now that ever before. That doesnt mean that what Israel is doing is ok or not terrible. The two arent mutually exclusive. This is part of the problem with discussions like this. Its the same with the Russia/Ukraine war. Any dissent or questioning of Ukraine is somehow support for what Russia did and/or Putin specifically. Saying what's happening in Gaza isnt a genocide isnt support for the war there.

Either Israel is really bad at genocide or there is no genocide.

Nowhere, to my knowledge, has the eradication of a specific number of people been used to determine if a government is committing genocide.

A genocide is the attempt to systematically eradicate a people. The Israelis have the means to do that to the Palestinians, but they haven't and in fact as I have shown the Palestinians more than doubled their population in less than 20 years. So either the Israelis are terrible at genocide or there really isn't one happening. Do I think there needs to be a different solution to the problem there? Yes. Do I think what Israel is currently doing is ultimately going to solve the problem? Nope. I also don't think calling what's happening a genocide is helpful either. Nor is acting like Israel is the only participant in this. The Palestinian leadership, Iran, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar all have a role in the plight of the Palestinian people. The Gaza strip shares a border with Egypt. The Egyptians built a wall with razor wire and guards all along it. The west bank shares a huge border with Jordan. Does Jordan allow Palestinians into their country? Are they doing anything to help them? The answer is of course no. The Iranians have for decades fomented problems in the region funding terrorism etc. Billions of dollars have been dumped into Gaza and the Westbank. The Palestinians have done nothing to improve the area nor the lives of their population. They have used essentially all that money to make weapons, and conduct terrorist attacks against Israel.

Let me ask you this question. If the Israelis put down their weapons tmw what would happen?

Now what if the Palestinians did the same thing?

One would result in an actual genocide and the other peace.
