We have a $900 billion a year trade deficit--about half of that is with China. The only way to pay them even the interest of the $2 trillion we actually already owe them, we have to ship them coal and oil right now....which we are.

This is also where Venezuela is coming into play....if they can get their oil from there they don't need ours, which means that a currency war based on gold reserves could crash the dollar ( petrodollar) .Saudi Arabia is also in play - unhappy with being scolded about 'human rights ' no-no's.

You know why we are "missing" this alleged "golden" opportunity? Because it's a fool's errand. It's bullshit. If Americans could find a way to make huge profits off of green energy, THEY WOULD. The only way to make green energy work is by artificial necessity, brought on by government force.

So what's the hold-up on renewables ? Warren Buffet is doing a good job in west Texas with his gig wind farms but big oil must have made a fortune in the last 40 years- enough to have us leading the world in solar panel manufacturing - not China.

Their cost of producing electricity is going down while their output is going up. Once they get to a certain point, they are phasing out coal and nuclear plants to 80 % renewable by around 2040, but they're advancing so fast it could be sooner.

Its not that, it's that energy is needed.......renewables are just shitty at it.....look up energy density

Energy density is the amount of energy stored in a given system or region of space per unit volume. Translation: if I have 1 MJ/Kg of energy, the following chart tells you how much energy each source produces

An oil or NG plant runs as long as you have fuel for it, and fuel deliveries can be scheduled.

Wind cannot be scheduled, and the Sun's schedule while set can be interrupted. Solar storage also does not exist. You can't just load up sun and wind in a tank for later use.

With cars, until you can recharge a battery as fast as you can fill a gas tank, electric will be the inferior power source.
