No, they did not place trust in the people. Their trust was in the Constitution. And yes, they provided for amendments, and in most cases those amendments strengthened the document. But the 17th was a fatal mistake. And you know why it was proposed and adopted? The claim of election fraud, specifically, William Clark of Montana had his election voided on the claim that he had bought votes from the Montana legislature. In retrospect, there was very little evidence that it actually happened.

The more things change, the more they remain the same. Here we are, 120 years later, and once again election fraud is being used as an excuse to weaken the Republic. History is a beautiful thing, but those that refuse to learn the lessons of the past are destined to repeat the same mistakes.

When you give someone the opportunity and power to make changes to your work, or the system you give them power over your work and system.

My employer learned that about 17-18 years ago. They implemented a new piece of software to map our existing, retired, and new assets in the field. Roughly half of our employees had access to make changes in that system. In less than two years we had to completely rebuild the system because it no longer had any connection to reality. Too many cooks..., as the old saying goes. Now probably less than 5% of employees can make changes in that system... and we still have significant data error issues.

Over the next eighteen months, the American people are going to be astonished by the events they watch unfold in real time. But, the flickering, black-and-white scenes watched by Americans as the House Committee on Un-American Activities performed its witch-hunts in the early 1950s have greatly improved. Americans will watch, in brilliant, high definition color, as the United States’ Democratic Republic becomes a single-party dictatorship. This change will take place as the GOP, with the help of Democrats like Sens. Joe Manchin III of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, assume total control of Congress after the 2022 Mid-term elections.
