Baltimore public High Schools and Math, are they even teaching it?

It is racist to require that a Black get 60% on a math test.

So, lets do away with math tests. Hell, better yet, no more racist math classes.
If you don't or won't learn higher mathematics, here are the occupations you cannot work in:
Structural Engineer: Anyone not good at higher mathematics would build a large structure that would be dangerous/unsafe to be in.
Mathematical and Physical Science in NASA or any other aerospace agency: You have to be able to use higher mathematics to calculate orbit trajectory and reentry. Think, "Hidden Figures."
Accountant: You have to be able to handle the financial books for companies.
Mechanical Engineer: They have to be able to design, build and test mechanical devices for tolerances.
Statistician: The title speaks for itself.
Aeronautical Engineer: Designs airplanes, helicopters and missiles.
Robotics Engineer: Designs, creates and tests various robotics.
Economist: They develop effective solutions for urgent economic problems, which can affect local, state, national and even global needs.
The list goes on, but the fact remains, it doesn't matter whether you live in Europe, Asia, or Africa, mathematics is necessary, depending upon what is needed and what you do. That is not to say that if you have an average job, that you need higher mathematics, just not the high paying occupations you might want.

School officials in Oregon have decided that reading, writing and math skills are unnecessary for higher education.
The motivation is simple - minority children perform poorly on exams and, therefore, current standards are “discriminatory,” which creates “inequity” that harms students of color.

As part of a new understanding of learning proficiency, the State Board of Education has decided to suspend basic skills tests for 5 years.
In fact, it's practically racism, only in reverse. It reinforces the fact that minority students are not smart enough to pass the tests and therefore standards must be lowered.

That is, not to raise the level of knowledge of people of color, but to keep it at a minimum.
State-mandated standardized tests will still be administered to most high school students in the state, but will not be used to determine whether a student has the skills needed to graduate.

Those who are against the new approach, as is already common, accuse them of racism.
Parents argue that a school diploma is already turning into a certificate for attending school, moving away from the level of a real certificate, which is a stepping stone for further education.

They accuse the school board of abdicating responsibility for poor performance. So officials decided to blame the instrument used to measure a student's ability to read, write and do math.
Parents are angry that school bureaucrats, who are unelected, are ignoring public opinion and their responsibilities to help students meet high standards.

Comment: It is clear that American school education is hitting another rock bottom.
