Bachmann’s Husband Tied To ‘Pray Away The Gay Therapy’

Bachmann’s husband again tied to ‘pray away the gay therapy’ caught on video | Washington Blade - America's Leading Gay News Source

ABC News has picked up an undercover video from LGBT-activist Wayen Besen’s TruthWinsOut of a counselor recommending prayer to “treat” homosexuality last month at the counseling practice of Michele Bachmann’s husband Marcus Bachmann.

The Bachmanns have denied patients have been counseled in such ways, but the video and the growing chorus of former patients coming out claiming to have been “treated” in this manner for their homosexuality by the Bachmann clinic.

In response, the Human Rights Campaign—which has already endorsed President Barack Obama for re-election in 2012—has launched a petition demanding GOP Presidential candidates sign a pledge disavowing dangerous “ex-gay” therapy, which major American mental-health groups from the American Psychiatric Association, the American Psychological Association and more have denounced as extremely harmful to patients.

Is this private citizen running for elected office?

Would you provide your significant other's name/SSN for us so we can Google his/her sorry ass and discuss here?

Thanks.

Neither Political Junky nor PJ's spouse is running for office.

See the difference?

Dang it!!! I guessed this was the kind of shit that went on at their looney 'therapy' bin. I knew I should have said something.:lol:

Funny - you, like Mr. B are private citizens, not running for public office.

Can you provide your name/SSN, so we can Google your sorry ass and discuss your private life here?

Idiot much?

No, I don't see the difference.
Michelle Bachman's husband is running for office?

:booze:

Yeah - booze. Have much tonight?

Why are we "debating" the private lives of citizens here?

whose private lives? bachmann and her husband??

well, it's kind of noteworthy only because he's taking medicare money for his religious beliefs. and, aside from the fact that it's wacko to try to pray away the gay, his wife IS running for president and benefits from those medicare payments while calling anything that benefits anyone else "socialism". That's on top of the farm subsidies she gets on the ole family farm.

it's more a matter of the hypocrisy. i don't care what they believe. i DO care that we're paying for their "beliefs".

This is why Minnosota needs licensure standards for mental health professionals.

Regardless of anyone's religious beliefs, "praying" away sexuality is quackery of the highest form when it comes to the medical field.

M. Bachman has no license and his curriculum vitae is suspect.

Trisha Stark, of the Minnesota Psychological Association, said that the title “clinical therapist” is not widely used in professional circles and that Bachmann is able to operate his clinic because of state rules regarding mental health practice.

“Minnesota is one of the only states in which you can practice mental health without a license,” Stark said.

The Bachmann and Associates office declined to comment on his professional credentials, and the campaign did not respond to requests for comment.

The licensing is precisely the kind of issue that could dog the Bachmann campaign as she moves from firebrand, little known congresswoman to scrutinized presidential candidate and Iowa front-runner. He may want to shield his wife, but his negatives provide more doubts to the candidacy of a politician already viewed skeptically by the political establishment.

I do think it's tachy to start a whisper campaign that M. Bachmann is gay simply because his wife is obviously the ambitious one in the marriage and he seems a little effeminate.

How is it "dangerous" ??

Other than the fact that it doesn't work (the recidivism rate is atrocious) and it feeds off of the religious guilt a person has over their sexual orientation.

Why not pray away schizophrenia while we are at it?

It's as stupid as Scientologists suggesting that minerals and body thetans are the way to address psychiatric disorders.

Actually, no. No we don't. This is an example of a much larger problem in this country, which is, that there are many people ("conservatives") who feel there are people "beneath" them or lesser to them in some way. This is why we see attacks on gays and minorities and why someone like Cantor can attack poor and middle class students and be cheered for it by his own crowd.

Until all Americans accept that we were all created equally, these problems will never go away. No matter how hard you pray.

Actually, you're wrong. Mr. Bachmann isn't 'attacking' anyone. He has a right to his opinions. He's not forcing them on anyone, people come to him and he offers them.

So, I am free to charge people for legal advice even though I am not a lawyer admitted to the bar?

No.

Bachmann isn't giving people his "opinion". He is charging them for his opinion as a health care provider. It's the same concept as a family physician billing for an office visit (though FP's are actually licensed).

Bachmann get's away with shoddy and non-evidenced based mental health techniques because Minnesota doesn't regulate his field properly.

But to act like he is just exercising his 1st amendment rights on the "pray away the gay" thing is absurd. He's billing for it. He should be under the same consumer and regulatory scrutiny as any other profesisonal.

He absolutely has a right to his opinion. He does not have a right to use my taxpayer money to try and "fix" people who have absolutely nothing wrong with them. If he was trying to "pray away" the whiteness from people, would you be so quick to defend him?

You don't even pay taxes. so it isn't yours,,errrr wait.. I fergit,, you're a demonRat.:lol::lol::lol:

:lmao:

I was going to look at the licensing requirements for clinical psychologists in Minnesota, but when I clicked on the link for the Minnesota Board of Psychology, this is what I got:

now why would you assume he doesn't pay taxes when it's the blue states that keep subsidizing the red states?

and i'm pretty sure that you don't say no to collecting money from the government, right, willow baby?

So in conclusion,, it is okay now for us to talk about family members?

Good, I hated that phoney garden fat meech planted, and she should not go on vacations at our expense and drag her fat assed family with her. Not unless we tell her she can go. And no more ordering pizza from chicago, you're too fat and it costs us too much money
