Bachmann says free speech is ignorant and disrespectful

So you think a group of people preventing michelle bachmann from speaking is free speech?

When you are trying to keep others from speaking, you are not engaged in free speech. You are suppressing it.

Is our Republic so fallen that we don't understand this?
They think shout downs are free speech. It isn't. It's ignorant, and disgusting, and not what the 1st amendment is all about.

Yes. Our Republic IS that fallen.

All you cons just keep ignoring that your side did it and you thought is was great at the time.

This is why you will never win the debate in the end.

You have no real morals

A 4 year old could 'win' a debate with you, TruthMocker. Seriously, stop lying.

No it's not, it's just whatever your particular morals and values are, weren't sustainable, deep or powerful enough to remain in "power," that's all.

The earth is still spinning. It's BEEN spinning, since the demon commie socialist pol-pot Obama took office. Still no fema camps detaining all of our Citizens.

Still no higher taxes, for me anyways.

S'all good from where I sit.

To the unemployed: maybe the record profits Corporations are seeing through this recession............I dunno, would typically create jobs. Technology is a bitch. Then the fat lady dies of cancer.

Story here

I'm wondering how many votes she thinks she gained with this. The thing I think about is the contrast between the way she's handled this and the way Cheney handled this kind of thing several years ago when he was interrupted by protesters while speaking to Congress. Cheney's response was to point out that what was great about America is that we have the freedom to say what we want. On the other hand, Bachmann tacitly implies that people should not engage in exercising their freedom of speech, and seems scornful for it. Cheney at least respected it, even though I'm sure he wasn't happy over the incident. I guess it's just another piece of the bat-shit crazy Bachmann puzzle.

Only a liberal shitbrick thinks "respecting freedom of speech" means "respecting what people say". Maybe you should ask yourself why you feel that OTHER people exercising THEIR freedom of speech by criticizing you is a "tacit implication" that you shouldn't be able to speak at all. Are you really that fragile and dependent on the approval of others?

And why the fuck is it that liberals always define freedom of speech as "being disruptive and preventing others from speaking"? Why is it okay and just an exercise of the First Amendment for them to interrupt HER speech, but an intolerable attack on the First Amendment for her to merely comment on how ill-mannered and crass they are? Hypocrite much, Princess?

Yes. Our Republic IS that fallen.
And these Statists have the audacity to question why we are taking it back [Take it back from what, they ask], and are going to restore it...whether they like it or not.

well no one will admitt she thought those interupters were just great huh?

I can't say I ever heard her express any opinion on that at all, since . . . stay with me here, drooler . . . IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH HER PERSONALLY. They weren't interrupting HER, and contrary to leftist belief, conservatives are not actually legally required to comment at length on every tiny freaking thing that ever happens, JUST to be on record in order to stave off liberal cries of "Hypocrisy!" Frankly, liberals are so frigging kneejerk and random with those cries that there's no point in even paying attention to them, much less attempting to prevent them.

And this is assuming that any such event actually happened, as opposed to existing only in your fevered imagination, which is not an assumption I'm prepared to actually make.

Not one intelligent answer to why you thought is was great then and now claim its rude

Free speech is being able to shout down anyone who opposes the leftist view. Ask Ann Coulter.

If I were Bachmann, I would have asked the people in the audience to join me in shouting the protesters down until they left. Just out scream them, and see how much they really like free speech.

Oh, I love it. It's "freedom of speech" for the leftists to have ACTUALLY shouted down Michelle Bachmann, but it's a great outrage for Ann Coulter to SUGGEST that the EXACT SAME BEHAVIOR be exhibited toward them.

Can you people BE any more whining and hypocritical?

The internet outs just how morally bankrupt the right is.

You flip flop your morals at a pin drop for your fucking poltical party.

Now go scream down your fellow constituents so they cant talk to their rep

Oh, I'm sorry. Are you still talking? Is it a violation of your "freedom of speech" if I find you too stupid and meaningless to pay attention to at all? :eusa_eh:

"You people"? Which people? Could you generalize any further? Is this not exactly what the left do? Yes. Oh my. The right apply the same (lack of) standards as the left. Wait there... I'll go get my faux outrage.

Tissue?

I have no love for Bachmann, but I can't fault her reaction.

The disturbance drowned out the Minnesota congresswoman's remarks, and she briefly left the stage until it was over. When she returned, she praised the group's right to protest.

"Don't you just love the First Amendment? It's great, we have a great country and I want to thank you all for your understanding," she said.

But at the parade on Friday, after a woman unrelated to the group apologized for what happened at the speech, Bachmann talked about the incident with a harsher tone than the one she took the previous day

"I was surrounded by heroes yesterday on the USS Yorktown who paid a big price for them, and they're just ignorant of that," Bachmann responded. "That's all. They're ignorant and they were disrespectful, but you know someday hopefully they'll come to know the price that was applied."

You have a typical authoritarian attitude - free speech is only allowed for those you like.

Fascists agree with you.

Nobody who's ever been on stage would agree with the OP here. So it's a big bowl of sugarless cerael and no fuckin milk in the fridge, tbh. What a shitty morning

So the idiot who posted the OP lied. Just flat-out lied.

Remember, folks, when a leftist says something, you're required by the Constitution to agree with him. Anything less is oppression and a violation of his rights, and you should be sent to the camps.
