Assad protected:Russian airdefense that can shoot down 80 planes at once from 248 miles away

"It’s time for Britain and its allies to take concerted, sustained military action to curb Bashar al-Assad’s ability to murder Syria’s citizens at will. Before hands are thrown up in horror at the prospect of another open-ended, armed western intervention in the Middle East, consider the following. Since 2011, when the uprising against Assad’s regime descended into civil war, nothing has worked. As the toll has risen inexorably towards 500,000 dead, the United Nations has tried ceasefires, truces, pauses, local talks and national negotiations. All have fallen apart.

As millions of civilians fled, or were trapped, the EU and others proposed refugee quotas, safe havens, humanitarian corridors, no-fly areas and de-escalation zones. None has succeeded in staunching the flow of blood and misery. And Assad is not finished. Next up is rebel-controlled Idlib province, where millions cower in terror, awaiting their turn."

By August 2017 the United Nations estimated over half a million refugees have returned home. Syrians love their country but of course do not want to live under ISIS or AQ but to live under Assad with all the freedoms that the secular government of Syria provides.

Why we in the west wish to submit the citizens of Syria to Salafism and Sharia is beyond comprehension.

"And before anybody claims chlorine gas is not the same as a highly toxic nerve agent, note that the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), about which we have heard a lot lately, holds that “any chemical” repurposed for an attack “is considered a chemical weapon by the [1997 chemical weapons] convention”.

Calls to wait for yet another UN investigation amount to irresponsible obfuscation. Only the Syrian regime and its Russian backers have the assets and the motivation to launch such merciless attacks on civilian targets. Or did all those writhing children imagine the gas?"

Assad had already won Douma back and freed his citizens from the rule of the Saudi terror backed group Jaish al Islam. There was never a need for a chemical weapons attack.

And there is no evidence of such an attack. OPCW is going to investigate on the ground in Douma. Then we will know what happened or what didn't happen.

Raytheon makes millions of dollars and McCain gets kickbacks.

Oh yeah, and Syrians die, and it could lead to ww3.

No, what happens is that the S-400 is destroyed and Russia realizes the only way to keep its naval base in Syria is to reach an agreement with the US.

How many people have to die?
Far fewer than if we do nothing.

Like hell. Remember when the west decided they had to save Egypt from Mubarak and installed the Muslim Brotherhood? Why don't you ask Coptic Christians how much they fucking appreciate what you did.

Thank heavens the country overthrew them and became safe again. Why don't you ask Libyans how much they appreciate you saving them from Gaddafi? Now run by various terror cells.

Oh and with open air slave markets in Tripoli. Why don't you ask the African migrants being sold as slaves in Libya how much they appreciate you saving them too?

Then there is Syria. Hell's bells if we in the west hadn't backed the overthrow of Assad by Saudi Arabia/Qatar/Turkey to install another fucking Muslim Brotherhood government none of this shit would be happening now.

It appears Americans really really are determined to put a free and secular society in Syria under the thumb of Salafism and freaking Sharia law. God help the Christians if we succeed in giving Syria the Muslim Brotherhood.

This is fucking sick to believe the terrorists who held Douma for all those years that Assad gassed his own civilians that his army has fought to free for years. And he was successful last week. They had beat Jaish al Islam the terror group that had held that city hostage and funded by Saudi Arabia.

Not rebels. No civil war. Foreign Sunni jihadists from over 80 countries. And our fucking governments prefer to believe terrorists. Unfucking real.
A lively rant, but completely irrelevant to the question how many refugees would be created by bombing Assad's air force and helicopter fleet.

What is to keep Russia from just replacing the aircraft that are destroyed?
The idea is to continue to disable the Syrian air force and helicopter fleet, so replacing them, even if Russia could afford to, would not change anything.

Your comment makes no sense. If you replace the aircraft, they could still use them! DUH!

I'm talking about a sustained attack that would blow up the new aircraft, too. To make a real difference in Syria, the attack will have to be sustained, otherwise it will just be another political gesture. Hopefully, it will not just be aircraft that will be attacked but the whole supporting infrastructure, runways, fuel storage facilities, etc.

You should have said that if it is what you meant.

I thought I had when I said the idea was to continue to disable his air force and helicopter fleet.

I disabled your car by letting the air out of the tires. Does that prevent you from driving another car? No

Sorry! You were not clear.

What a great apologist for Assad.

He loves his people so much that he dropped barrel bombs and chemical weapons on them.
