Are atheists destroying the US?

Atheists take responsibility for their actions; christians do not.

Oh bullshit! Atheists are just like anyone else in that they try to blame someone or something for the shit that happens in life and what they do. Atheists may not blame God or the devil, they just blame society as a whole, or they blame a political party, or they blame the media, or they blame the institute of religion. "Atheists take responsibility for their actions"...give me a break

And yet you arent happy. Why is that?

Perhaps it's because you can't do wrong and feel right about it.

One day I hope you truly decide to find God instead of making excuses. Maybe then you won't have to pretend we have a gun to your head when we invite you to actually do something when you come to us complaining about God
And here we see the arrogance common to most theists.

The three of you sit around complaining about a God you claim doesn't exist. It's not exactly rocket science to figure out you guys are miserable. It literally permeates your posts.
I'm afraid you're projecting. You're angry and emotive because you're being required to account for your religious beliefs. You're being required to account for the book you worship and why that book is rife with errors, omissions and profound contradictions about gawds of infinite love and mercy who are the most cruel and vindictive "personalities".

I enjoy discussing my religious beliefs. In fact, that's why I encouraged the original owners of the board to create the religion forum. So we could discuss religious ideas without it clogging up the politics section.

So why would I be angry about discussing them? If something makes me angry, I wouldn't do it. The world has too much negativity to purposely put yourself in negative situations.

What is a sign of anger is whining about God and religion when you have no belief in them. If there is no God why does it matter if others believe in Him? Why go to places where it's discussed and complain about people talking to you about God when all you have to do is not put yourself in that position?

You guys complain about what you term as hypocritical Christians who don't follow their faith and then complain about Christians discussing their faith with you when they would be hypocrites if they didn't.

You aren't honestly seeking when you refuse to even read a book or experiment in the least. You're just trying to justify to yourself why you are better than others. This isn't something that needs to be done if you are living after the manner of happiness.

God has a plan of happiness. And the center of that plan is the resurrection and atonement of Jesus Christ. The atonement is the one thing that can heal us spiritually and physically. When you use it to repent of your sins you can provide a way for the spirit to teach you and change you. You can become more humble. You can become full of love. And when you are full of love you want to share that love with others.

Study the scriptures and come to Christ. The light and joy you can receive will amaze you
Sheesh, dude. You're coming across as really desperate. You mistake people's interest in discussing a subject as a reason to become the salesman from hell for your partisan gawds. Your lack of sales is no reason to become angry and emotive because you can't gain converts.

What's disturbing is that you refuse to address the myriad contradictions and paradoxes of gawds of infinite mercy with the biblical realities of gawds of anger, vengence and infliction of suffering. If you're going to be a salesman, understand that the buyer had already done her homework and knows the product.

So where are these religious folks who are "full of love"?

And, put down the script.

Sounds like she's read a great deal of scriptures. How arrogant of you to assume otherwise.

Her choice of questions says otherwise. If she studied the scriptures, she would have a far greater understanding of the mercy of God. And she has outright said she won't read the Book of Mormon. I fail to see how it arrogant to recognize facts about others.
My choice of questions is perfectly valid as they specifically counter your appeals to gawds who are not as you claim. You completely ignore the actions of your gawds which have caused such harm to humanity.

I suspect what causes you to lash out in anger is your relative ignorance of what is actually contained in the bibles relative to the treatment of humanity by your gawds.

Except I'm still not angry. And I've studied the scriptures almost daily for close to two decades. I'm not the one refusing to study and more importantly to apply my understanding.

You on the other hand openly refuse to study and experiment on the word, proclaiming that you already know better and then ask questions showing you don't.

I don't know why anyone would waste their time on con man, Joe Smith's, little blue book. Most Christian's are arrogant, like you, who pretend to be oh so superior, and have a direct line to Gawd.

I was harassed and stalked by some morms in Tucson. It went on for a long long long LONG time and every time they would leave a copy of the Book Of Mormon. Foolishly, I would call - first a local number, then, later, a number I found in Salt Lake. They were always so nice, apologetic and then would say they would send someone out to "explain" it to me and it would start all over again. One day, they appeared at my door for the gazillionth time and I just saw red. I don't angry very easily but I was just fed up with the harassment. I grabbed a gun - a .22 Saturday Night Special that had not been fired for so long, it probably would have taken my hand off. We didn't even have shells for it.

I went out on the deck and with the gun in one hand and my arms folded across my chest which meant the gun was pointed away from them and told them to get off my land. They started in with their by-rote pitch and I told them again to leave. One of them then said they would call the sheriff because I threatened them with a gun. I told them to go ahead and do that.

Went in the house and called the sheriff, described the incident and was told that, sure nuff, if they reported it, I would get a visit from a deputy. The deputy never came so the thumpers must have just gone on to find others to harass.

But, holding that little pistol had the desired effect and they never came back again.

Anyway, in Tucson, there's a local used bookstore chain called Bookman's where I would trade in the Book of Morm's they left and use the credit to buy books I actually wanted.

I did once read a bit of it - nonsensical, speaking in tongues kind of gobbledegook.

BTW, anyone ever hear of atheists going door to door, harassing people, leaving idiotic tracts - over and over again?

If any other group did what christians get away with, they would be cited for harassment and stalking.

I'm not superior in the slightest. You have a direct line to God as well. We all do. You just choose not to use it.

If anyone here is thinking they are superior it's you and your friends who think they are superior and don't need God and that everyone who disagrees with you is arrogant while you are wise above all else.

As for why people would study the teachings of Joseph smith, most wise people I know study the teachings of someone before they pass judgment on those teachings. To pass judgments on one's teachings before studying those teachings is absolutely stupid.

Wisdom dictates you study before making a decision. Otherwise you're just prejudiced by the very definition of the word

"Perhaps it's because you can't do wrong and feel right about it."

That's definitely something I agree with you about but I'm kind of surprised that you admit you feel "right" when you do wrong.

Frankly, I think that whole excuse of "not perfect, just saved" is a shameful dodge of one's personal responsibility.

If I do wrong, I DO feel wrong about it.

And yet it doesn't stop you from lying in almost every post you write. And you claim to be happy while doing so.

You know, you really aren't making me want to stand up for atheists in the future if all you are going to do is lie about and attack me for doing so.

Why do you always refuse to take responsibility for what you write?

You can try to hide behind name calling but --

YOU wrote that your religion allows to do wrong but feel right about it.

Why do you continue to lie?

I said you cannot do wrong and feel right about it. Wickedness was never and can never be happiness. Doing evil will through yourself out of balance with the universe.

The childish name calling is just one more way to avoid taking responsibility for your own words. Quit hiding behind the name calling and just address the point.

What you wrote:
"And yet you arent happy. Why is that?

Perhaps it's because you can't do wrong and feel right about it."

Its christians who believe they can do wrong and feel good about it because they believe they will be forgiven. Atheists cannot and do no not blame put the blame off on "god" or "devil".

Atheists take responsibility for their actions; christians do not.

So, who is "doing wrong"?

You for once again lying. Christians do not claim that.

And no you don't take responsibility for your actions. If you did you would stop with the lying.

Btw you are lying about me calling you any names.

And yet again, you try to derail the thread by resorting to childish name calling and lies instead of posting on topic and addressing the subject.

:offtopic:

:eusa_liar:

You DID write this:

"And yet you arent happy. Why is that?

Perhaps it's because you can't do wrong and feel right about it."

Christians Do say they are "not perfect, just forgiven".

Christians DO say "the devil made me do it", "god moves in mysterious ways", "its god's will" and other by-rote, meaningless drivel as a way of getting out of taking responsibility for their own words and actions.

Denying that christians say these things is just another example of not taking responsibility for your own words and actions.

It IS amazing that we have become so accustomed to the insanity of people saying they believe in magical creatures that no one can see or prove exists.

Ask for proof of the existence of these magical, invisible creatures and you get more of the same insanity.

Delusions to prove delusions.

Its frikken bizarre.

The one thing that all your posts have in common is that you do believe you are superior to others, especially the lowly heathens who don't fall in behind you in ignorant lockstep.

Most of the so-called "christians" here preach their holier-than-thou nonsense but you are the worst for looking down your nose and pretending your beliefs make you better than everyone else.

All I ever needed to know about Joe Smith was that he looked inside a magic hat and was able to translate reformed Egyptian hieroglyphics, that were chiseled onto gold plates, that were buried out in New York.

What a ridiculous story. I have a bridge to sell you!

And yet it's true. And you will never know that because rather than educate yourself on the matter you choose to remain ignorant.

Christ is the example of mercy. The perfect one.

And you haven't done homework if you refuse to read scriptures, speak with God, or experiment at all.

Like the time he committed genocide on the very people he created, by way of the flood.....killing men, women, children, and even the unborn?

I don't know why anyone would waste their time on con man, Joe Smith's, little blue book. Most Christian's are arrogant, like you, who pretend to be oh so superior, and have a direct line to Gawd.

Sooooooo, everyone that is not a Mormon is ignorant? Oh, the arrogance....

Joe Smith was a con. Religion is the biggest scam of all time.

(I knew it was my nutty sister behind it but that didn't really matter.)

When we moved out of Tucson, I thought we would finally be rid of them but no - they found us and it started up again.

So so course your a victim for pulling a gun on some kids.

Speaking in tongues eh? Which verse was that?

While I did not then think of us as victims and I do not now think of us as victims, we were indeed harassed and stalked.

"KIDS"????????????????????

They were young adults and had two older adults with them. ALL of them were certainly old enough to know that stalking and harassment was wrong.

But, like you, they did not take responsibility for their actions.

Yes, what I read in the Book of Mormon was just as I said: nonsensical, speaking in tongues kind of gobbledegook
