Another Wells Fargo Victim

so when a person's family turns their back on someone like this......who would you like to be put in charge of their affairs......

A 3rd party with no biased interest in it. Fargo Wells had a interest in being her guardian. What they did to this poor woman was enough proof of that.

Two of her children were involved and trying to look out for her. She was recieving an inheritance of $226,800 inheritance from her sister. Their concern was she was vunerable for being financially exploited. Dec..2004 The oldest sibling was an addict and living with her to begin with and mom got addicted on morphine after a back injury.

March 2005 Wells Fargo and PFI recieved control. She was no longer consider chemically dependant but the court referee deemed her unable to care for herself.

August 2005 Her children petition for a guardian replacement.

By March 2006 $226,000.00 gone.

By April 2006 Wells Fargo VP petitions to sell her home. The guardian by this point was trying to move her back home. No Money. He relents and gives Wells Fargo a reverse mortgage as a guardian.

The family tries to stop this reverse mortgage to no avail.

November 2006 The children trying to save mom get's a report from doctor to stop the out flow of $26,000.00 a month for 24/7 care.

January 2007 The guardian agrees care can be scaled back. By now $55,000.00 spent.

March 2007A snow storm on the day hearing is set to repair mom's rights kept her from attending. Wolfson agree the cost were high but calls the situation chaotic.

Wells Fargo attempts to get approval sell mom's house.

July 2007, Finally mom gets her rights restored.

It should always be a disinterested individual or third party who looks out for the best interest of anyone that is incapacitated if the children are incapable of doing so. In this case two of the younger children filed for guardianship. The eldest was the druggie.

In less than a 14 months they spent this woman's money and evidently the full value of her home.

$100,000.00 for attorneys. She had to pay for all of them. The state should hold this type of legal robbery at bay by holding the guardians, care givers and attorneys accountable.

$5,700.00 a month until the money ran out.

March 2005 to October 2007 $672,808.Total spent.

Her retirement accounts liquidated.

Now she owes Wells Fargo,$48,388.00
Assets zip.

This is the part that raises the big red flag about her family:

In July 2004, Greer's daughter, Judith Wryk, filed a petition in Hennepin County Probate Court asking that she and her brother Terry Greer be appointed her mother's guardians and conservators.

Her mother was "suffering from dementia and chemical dependency" that made her "unable to arrange for her medical care," the petition said. She was "unable to manage her estate and is vulnerable to financial exploitation," especially since Peggy Greer was about to inherit a large sum of money from her late sister.
They wanted to take control of her assets.

That's a fair question. And one reason everyone should make living wills, for a start. The incapacitated are vulnerable in so many ways. From being ripped off by their underpaid home care workers to being fleeced by their overpaid guardians.

The elderly are often taken advantage of by others. Many times by their own families. I have seen this pretty regularly in the legal field and it is sad to see that in this case the law didn't help her one bit. Too bad that the system didn't catch this one!

I would guess family members are just as bad a strangers. I've seen it happen.
