Amazon now accepting FOOD STAMPS!!! The obama legacy

You know, considering that a lot of people who receive assistance live in what they call "food deserts", meaning that there are very few stores with healthy food around, getting it online from Amazon seems to be a decent idea. If nothing else, they could get better quality food than what they get from the corner store, like fresh fruit and veggies.
How fresh can it be if Amazon has to deliver it?

Have you ever ordered groceries online? I have, and they overnite it to you, as well as pack it in coolers so that it will stay fresh. Matter of fact, for the holidays this year, I got a smoked turkey breast and some other things from a shop up in Vermont. And, to tell the truth, it was probably some of the best smoked turkey I've ever had.

No. I get up off my ass and go physically to the food store! You know why it is a bad idea to order food that way? They had to use a lot of sodium to preserve it.

Really? Sites like Apron and other gourmet cooking sites who send you the ingredients to make a meal (all fresh by the way) don't seem to have a problem shipping their products to people. Lots of those meals include fresh veggies.

And, if you look at the distribution system of Amazon, you would know they can get ANYTHING to ANYONE in 24 hours or less. Veggies would survive a short time like that in a cooler.

Besides...........in cases of groceries, most companies have contracts with local farmers to source their vegetables.

... I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this. I'll have to think on it.

If you have to think about this, then you can't think. This is 100% wrong. It's SUPPOSED to be difficult and embarrassing to use food stamps.

This is 100% wrong.....it's NOT supposed to be difficult or embarrassing to use food stamps. This just shows how far your head is up your ass. Food stamps are to provide food to those who wouldn't have it otherwise......based on income & resources for household size. Many people would go hungry without them.

Many people aren't able to physically go to the store or expend the amount of energy it takes to go thru each aisle and find what they need or wait thru the checkout line. Even for those who are not on food stamps are doing more online shopping, just because they can.

So now welfare queens can buy their junk food anonymously!!! I want them to flash that EBT card in public. Let working americans see the bums stealing from them

Amazon to Begin Accepting Food Stamps - Breitbart

jan 16 2017 nternet-based retail giant Amazon is among the seven online food retailers that will soon start accepting food stamps, as part of a pilot program instituted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The two-year program, set to launch this summer, will test online ordering and payment methods.

The USDA, which oversees the $74 billion food stamp program, also known as SNAP or the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, says it plans to expand the online program nationwide and eventually add more retailers.

Participating retailers include Safeway, ShopRite, Hy-Vee, Hart’s Local Grocers, and Dash’s Market, and will serve food stamps recipients in seven states: Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington, Iowa, and Oregon.

However, Amazon is by far the largest online food distributor participating in the federal government’s new program.
why do you care, if they are not wasting Your time=money, on the road, on the bus, or in the checkout line at the grocery store. look at the positive.

Online Food Retailers Finally Deliver to SNAP - New York City Food Policy Center at Hunter College

The stated purpose of the pilot program is “to address the needs of the elderly and disabled, who often cannot easily go out to shop” and to help “those that lack consistent access to transportation or live in areas considered to be food deserts.”

nutrition bars were developed to fill a need. maybe some entrepreneurs, can come up with, "nutrition desserts".

Yes and many abuse the system like that surfer kid who refused to work and bought steak and lobster at the taxpayers expense. Now why don't you take your head out of your ass and justify that! I dare you.

What? Well, with Trump that will be much more doable!

Alright, after an evening or so of considering I think I must come down against this. While I do see potential for maximizing a budget and the reality of likely abuse, the main factor for me is the harm to the local economy - which is imo a major component in getting folks /off/ welfare. So too the slap in the face realization that this inherently means these welfare folks have internet access, and phones or computers, while on our dime which is not so pleasing to the concept of "folks should have incentives to get off welfare" idea.

That said, it's done already so unfortunately our opinion's are a bit irrelevant now. Write your reps and hope they raise a ruckas I suppose.

I don't know anything about this 'surfer kid' of which you speak, but I agree many do abuse the system. Yet the overall number on FS don't.

How do I know???? I worked for DSHS for 12 years in a local CSO (Community Services Office AKA Welfare Office) issuing benefits to the clients. Although this was 20 years ago, the dynamics are still the same today. Of the thousands of clients we served only about 1% were true abusers of the system and subject to fraud investigation.
I don't think anyone would be quite so quick to judge those on assistance, if you knew what brought them to it.

Whites outnumber blacks 5 - 1
Yes, but this doesn't matter when you're implying most people on food stamps are white since the universe of our sample set related to your logic is just the people on food stamps. So your claim is false, and your logic trying to support it is fail.

2. Obozo counts lots of hispanics as whites when compiling welfare rolls.
Obama personally sets policy on race inclusion? Do you have a link to support this, I'd be quite surprised if a President was doing this.

Even before Obama....any federally backed program or institution, such as Public Assistance, Social Security, school enrollment, mortgage loans, etc....have all asked or required veteran & race status...including Hispanic & any division thereof. Not sure just how or where it's counted though.....just saying
