...wasn't spoken by Franklin to another politician or leader, but to a prominent citizen, a woman.

So, in these days of uncertainty regarding our democratic institutions it is the citizenry that must rally and defend the republic, as the politicians and other leaders have largely forsaken this duty.

The way to do this is to first become a good person, then become a good citizen, accepting personal and societal responsibilities.

The Enemy is 'WITHIN' you can see it on this very board. Even with posted numerical FACTS and FIGURES illustrating a point.....there are apparently living breathing ADULT posters on this site who cannot understand. The simple-minded hacks run to the "Uh-Uh, R give away tax to rich" or some other BS. Hopeless. We know the handles of these posters.
