It is interesting with the impending election, the number of people that
have caught the protest fever. I often wonder, where does this come from?
Does it come from young people wanting to express themsleves? Is it a
protest culture, taught in the college's from burned out professors yearning
to relive their by gone day's of the 60's? I have watched many of these protest groups, Code Pink, The RNC Welcoming Committee, just to name a few of the many and it has come to me that many of these people are protesting just for the sake of having something to do? Now while I would never say that they do not have a right to do so. Tell me why is it that more often than not, these groups shouting for their rights do so at the expense of other's rights? When questioned some of these groups simply have no knowledge of basic facts or or any idea why they are there, other than to say a few phrases George Bush Bad , Republicans Bad. However, what I find really disturbing is the credence that some of these groups are given even as the impede other's, destroy property, and dishonor the very people that are fighting, and have fought to give them the right to do so. Why is it that this growing trend seems to have the Obama fever? Is that they believe that he will give them a socialist utopia they seek? or perhaps go about righting every perceived wrong that they think the United States has ever done. To stand and peacefully let your voice be heard and to voice your opinion is a wonderful thing, but to disgrace yourself and your nation and the people that have died defending it and the people that innocently died at the hands of rogue scumbags all in the name of protest and election is simply wrong.

This is a video of a young woman who has no clue why she is there, other than to say Bad Republicans, Bad George Bush, Pardon the title I didnt make the video.

This is a protest of a 9-11 memorial put on by the campus republicans and democrats, and believe it or not, yes they even protest 9-11 now.

The one I like the best though is the Code Pink girl that protested the RNC
address of John McCain, with press credentials from the St. Louis Post Dispatch , I like that one, best joke I've heard during the whole convention.

The bottom line here is this, we are facing a choice here in this election, between someone who is a wonderful speaker with little experience for the job but is backed completely the extreme left, and the democratic party, and I do make a distinction between the two as I honestly don't believe the average democrat thinks like these people, I sure hope not. The other choice is a man who has vast experience, and has served his country with honor. There is a difference in this election to be sure, the protest nation as I like to call them all support the former for reasons only they know. I wonder though what will they have to do with all those signs if he does get elected? What about those professor's reliving the good old 60's is it time for the old folks home now?

I just want to say that Code Pink does not represent me or most Liberals.

Robert,

It's why I said I make a distinction between most democrats and a lot of these groups, I just don't understand this compulsion to protest just for the sake of doing so? It seems to me it's like the new Line Dance Craze or something? The other thing , is I wonder if these people actually ever even looked at Obama's stance on a few things? they might be protesting him too? Like the USA Patriot Act, know what I mean?

Oh I know you made that distinction, I'm just stating that again for my own opinion too.

If I protest, it's for a damn good reason. My first quote in my list of them below this states what I think.

I know your not trying to insult me or any certain people on here though. No worries.

Why is it always liberals ?

I don't know dillo maybe then liberals have better camera's? I have no clue. However, protesting is not the exclusive invention of the liberals. It's just now you get better converage maybe? I'm of course saying that with a little humor dillo about the camera's , but of course, extreme groups come in all flavors. My point is the mainstreaming though of this protest fever and how its become the thing to do when some don't even know why they are doing it.

A good example of non-liberal protesters would be the whole Ron Paul Revolution thing.

I agree--it's quite the phenomenon. I guess they are moved and feel like it makes a difference but as you say--some don't even have a clue why they are there. That's a bit scarey--We're they told it was a cool thing to do ?
I have no clue.
Obama, however, really doesn't have an excuse. He really needs to study his stuff before he gets on camera. As does Mccain for that matter. Dumb dust--China is sprinkling us with dumb dust.

That sort of makes my point though on the media thing Robert, one way or the other, see, if media was not fully vested in the outcome for one candidate or the other, then all parties would be covered. I didn't see much at all on that Ron Paul thing. Ron Paul a long time ago used to be a pretty staunch Reagan Republican from what I understand.

You know I usually don't make fun of these people or try not too anyway, but dillo that link I posted in the last thread republican or democrat is hilarious. It makes me think a little if this is a representaion of the guy at the top and the protesters on the street are in the same boat, thats sort of a scarry thought.

Here is a simple question? Do you think that the last eight years have been great? :eusa_whistle:

I'm more concerned about them gathering en masse in cluelessness. It's like those people wandering to the Devils Tower to wait for space ships.

Yes! We MUST keep alive the culture wars from 40 years ago! Otherwise the GOP has no chance! Beware the hippies! Hey, look at those protesters! William Ayers! WILLIAM AYERS!

green if your asking me that on a personal level I can say the last eight years for me have been good yes. If you want to know what I think on a worldwide level, I think it was a mistake to go into Iraq, poor planning, poor troop levels, and poor mission. However, once there I believe that the mission should be completed. On the economy I don't think it's been all that bad , I think in the last year it has turned a little sour in the food and gas department, but overall I don't think its been a bad eight years no. I think George Bush has been from one perspective a decent president in that he has kept this country safe, after 9-11. I think he is a disaster as a manager and the people that he surrounded himself with were no better. I think the US govt. in general, the congress as well are a complete disaster and have done nothiing to help move this country in a positive direction, It has been nothing but your a democrat so im getting you back, and your a republican so im getting you back. so if you really want change like everyone wants why stop at President vote em ALL out. Harry Ried, Nancy P. the whole lot.

I especially had to shake my head at all the runnning around at both the DNC and the RNC breaking windows, and turning over car's and taunting the poilce. So then when the police react, then it becomes this big issue of the big mean old police are stopping me from expressing my freedom of speech, "I was only breaking that window there with this 5 pound brick so they could get out of Iraq officer"

But the President has the golden pen to sign or veto, so he makes the final decision. So if he sees a piece of legislation that is lousy, he can veto it. So ultimately it does rest on the current sitting presidents shoulder.:eusa_whistle:

You also have to remember that during the 60's, Police were used as gestapo like agents to brutalize protesters, and beat people with clubs. Protests would escalate into violence at the hands of the police. Peaceful protests would often turn violent because police would start swinging the clubs!:eusa_whistle:
