A good reason why history is important

The lesson of history is that people who fear others are most often murderous morons who used hatred and fear for personal gain and to justify the slaughter of the dreaded 'other', which was completely unnecessary and unjustified.
How would you know? In your infinite liberal ignorance, you refuse to examine history. Which is why you can't even remotely back up your absurd and asinine claim right here.

For example - Canada does not allow an invasion into their country. And if you or I attempt to break into Canada, we would be arrested on the spot. Now tell us all how Canada is an "often murderous morons who use hatred and fear for personal gain to justify the slaughter of the dreaded other".

:lmao: Idiot. Every nation in the world protects its border for obvious reasons (well, obvious for anyone who isn't an idiot libtard).
Your version of history is fear the Negro, fear the Jew, fear the Irish, fear, fear, fear. We've seen it time and again and it's always mostly just the childish fear of others. Fear is not history.
people shouldn't fear history, they should learn from it.
Few, especially like you, do.

Your prom picture again?

Four million Muslims here, and you fear them all. Or is it the Mexicans living in what used to be Mexico? Probably both.
LOL
Like I said, a joke.
If you ever had a point, and you didn't, now you really don't.

Epically lame retort!

A refusal to learn from history post. Oh joy...

is based on a false assumption as been already proved.
you are a fuckin moron.
that's all you from your first post.
You didn't prove anything you stupid fuck.

A fear of others thread. Oh joy.
yea, who needs history, right?
History isn't the problem, fearmongering is.
talking about history is fear mongering?
Talking about history is important. So is context.

Protesting Roman policies. Were those policies oppressive, ineffective, wrong headed?

If all we know is the Goths rebelled against Rome, we lose the meaning of the lesson.

What started it was Rome couldn't feed everyone.
It got so bad, the Goths started selling their children into slavery for dog meat.
The Romans gave them asylum, but it wasn't enough for them..

Those damned Goths. They lost and got incorporated into the Roman Empire in the end, though, adding their cuisine and genes to the Roman melting pot and OldLady said, "It is Good."

That lead to the Sack of Rome in the early 400s. Which was a major landmark in the destruction of Rome.
Kinda twisted logic buddy

True. But the lesson I take from history is that all powerful empires implode in the end. It sucks, but it always happens and our turn will come. Not for a long time, though, TN. If you are worried about the millions of Syrian and Northern African refugees in Turkey and parts of Europe, you may have good reason. The U.S. is much, much larger, though, and will absorb the tiny number of refugees we take in. Is that what you are worried about?

So the Romans failed to provide basic services to its people. Rather, they allowed the elite to amass an unfair portion of goods and services.

Gee, anyone else see a parallel here?

because they make mistakes. Whats wrong with learning from them?
"inevitable" seems like a lazy copout

It wasn't their people. They allowed around 100K foreigners and started to go through a food shortage.
Its also a good example for the people wanting the government to wipe their ass all the time. They get to choose who eats..

You're right we should learn from history. I just don't think we're comparing apples to apples in this case. Not all the historians agree that the Goth incident was 'the beginning of the end,' either. Inevitably, America will fade into the dust, lose its power and wealth. Yes, we should try to delay that day, but we need to remember who we are and honor those principles or we might as well not bother to try.

There are parallels in what is happening in America today and why the Roman Empire fell if people want put their partisan ideology aside and take a look at them you might find it interesting and yes maybe even a little disturbing.
Yes. The erosion of values, the Roman Senate's bickering and inability to govern due to infighting, continual warfare abroad, bleeding the country's purse.
No one will care enough to listen, though.

Im not saying that either ;)
Our principles? Like focusing on foreigners and corporations instead of our own citizens?
