I would love for someone to break into my home one time. I want to test the hypothesis that just racking a shell in the chamber will scare them away. What do you think?

I need to move to less crime free area because nobody ever breaks into the homes where I live.

I have posted the statistics in my link. AR-15 used in crimes is more than just an exception, it happens almost never. The leadership is afraid of armed revolts, instead.

Different tool for different jobs

If you want to rob a liquor store, walking down the street carrying an AR 15 is not the way to go. Why handguns are preferred

If you want to shoot up a school or supermarket, an AR 15 with a large capacity magazine is the weapon of choice.

#1 - you have a wide forgiveness for hitting your target. You only have to be aiming at them.
#2 - short range kill zone. You don't have to worry about accidental death 100 yards away from an errant bullet.
#3 - The commanding sound of the pump mechanism is a sound everyone knows, and is often enough to drive anyone away.

Exactly what ours would do once she saw I accepted the person in our "territory".
The beauty of GSDs... they tailor their behavior to the situation. If the situation for them is unknown - they will go nuts on the would be intruder. But once they see you accept this person - they want to be best buds.

Funny I have never used any of my ARs for war. In fact I know of no country on earth that provides AR-15s for its military.

These Moon Bats are crazy as hell to think that the most popular rifle sold in the US and is lawfully used by literally millions of Americans each day is a weapon of war. LOL!

Have you seen the new mini 12 ga shells? I don't know how much power they have, probably wouldn't penetrate as much as OO buck, but I wouldn't trust them to cycle in an auto loader.

Few firearms are as well-suited to home defense as an AR carbine or braced pistol in 9mm/40/45/10mm

Not as powerful as a shotgun, but faster firing, more capacity, faster reloads, lighter, smaller, and easier to handle.
