Considering how many people love weed, you would think there would be some songs about it. I can think of many songs going back 100 years romanticizing alcohol but I can't think of any that romanticize weed. Maybe there are some, I can't think of any.

Alright now!
Won't you listen?
When I first met you, didn't realize
I can't forget you or your surprise
You introduced me to my mind
And left me wanting you and your kind
Oh, yeah
I love you
Oh, you know it
My life was empty, forever on a down
Until you took me, showed me around
My life is free now, my life is clear
I love you sweet leaf, though you can't hear
Oh, yeah baby!
Come on now, try it out!
Straight people don't know what you're about
They put you down and shut you out
You gave to me a new belief
And soon the world will love you sweet leaf
Oh, yeah baby!
Come on now, try it out!
Oh, yeah!

I got my peaches out in Georgia (oh, yeah, shit)
I get my weed from California (that's that shit)
I took my chick up to the North, yeah (badass bitch)
I get my light right from the source, yeah (yeah, that's it)

while the rat pack was happily singing drinking songs, references to drugs had to be hidden in order for say puff the magic dragon" to be played.

I'm sure there are more drinking songs than other drug songs. Guessing it's really a matter of scale. Love, crushes, etc. is something that everyone can relate to, so there are zillions of songs bout that.

Notice there are no car songs today like you see in those Time Life commercials. No one is going to get lyrical about a faggot electric vehicle.

I'm assuming this is satire? Because there are a shit ton of songs about weed.

But for the most part unless you love rap and whatever you call modern hip-hop you're missing out on 92% of all songs about smoking weed.

The other 8% are a mixture of songs from the 60s and random songs like last dance with Mary jane, although it could still be about love since it was originally titled just Indiana girl.
