CBP Officers at the Pharr International Bridge Seize 52 Pounds Methamphetamine, One Man Arrested

Pharr, Texas U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Pharr/Reynosa International Bridge seized approximately 51.72 pounds of methamphetamine on Thursday. The estimated street value of the methamphetamine is $775,000.
On October 20, 2011 CBP officers working at the Pharr International Bridge came in contact with a northbound 2001 Chevrolet Malibu driven by a Mexican national, age 28, from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. A CBP officer referred the vehicle and driver to secondary for further inspection. In secondary, officers seized 24 packages of alleged methamphetamine that were found hidden within the vehicles back seat and trunk area. CBP officers seized the vehicle as well.
The male traveler was transferred to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigation (ICE-HSI) for further investigation.
