CBP Officers at Laredo Port of Entry Seize $826,000 in Heroin from Honduran Man http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/newsroom/news_releases/local/09172012_5.xml (Monday, September 17, 2012) Laredo, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Laredo Port of Entry recently seized more than $800,000 in alleged heroin from a Honduran citizen residing in Georgia. The seizure occurred on September 14, at the Gateway to the Americas Bridge. A CBP officer conducting examinations in the pedestrian primary lanes referred a 52-year-old male Honduran citizen from Marietta, Ga. with a resident alien card, for a secondary examination. In secondary, CBP officers conducted a closer examination and discovered two packages hidden under his clothing containing a total of 8.26 pounds of alleged heroin. The heroin had an estimated street value of $826,000. CBP officers turned the pedestrian over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigation. “Our frontline CBP officers employed their inspection skills, technology, canines, vigilance, and perseverance which paid off with a significant seizure of hard narcotics,” said Sidney Aki, CBP Port Director, Laredo.
