I am a Democrat because I believe in the environment and conservation. For instance, we must raise the price of gasoline, like they do in Europe, to increase conservation. If we don't, there will soon be a big gas shortage, and this will mean higher gasoline prices for you and me.

RIGZONE - China, Cuba to Fully Cooperate in Oil & Gas Sector

On November 25 in La Habana, CNPC Vice President Wang Dongjin and CUPET President Fidel Rivero Prieto inked a framework agreement on further cooperation in the oil sector, which is a practical implementation of President Hu Jintao's instruction on promoting oil and gas cooperation between China and Cuba during his state visit in Cuba.

According to the agreement, the cooperation between CNPC and CUPET will cover oil and gas field development, engineering and technical services and petroleum equipment exportation.

Wang Dongjin met with Yadira Garcia Vera, member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and Cuba's Basic Industry Minister, on the same day. They compared notes and reached common understanding on the full cooperation between the two sides in the oil sector.

These things take time. It'll happen soon enough though.

He's the ne who used high gas prices as a campaign plank. He also loudly blamed Bush even though Bush was not running for the office of POTUS.
The high prices we are seeing now are in part Obama's fault. He has overspent and as a result the federal reserve has had to print more Dollars to pay the debt. The federal reserve has also unwittingly pumped more fake money into the stock markets to prop up prices( evil Wall Street there) So a little economics 101......Pay attention cookie, you'll be quizzed on this when you return from Christmas Break.....Supply and demand. Add more dollars to the money supply reduces the value of the dollars. Because the price of crude oil and gasoline is based on the US Dollar and in part due to recent plummet in the value of the US Dollar ,crude oil and gasoline prices increased by themselves.
I have read the tea leaves. I predicted two months ago when this most recent spike began that the average price of regular gas would be $3.25 per gallon by mid-January.
It's right on target. Here's what will happen....
Oil will rise to about $100 per barrel. OPEC will call a meeting to increase production in order to slow the rise in prices. The price of gas will level off at around $3.10 to $3.20 per gallon( nationwide average)....In late January or early February, prices will again begin to creep upward to catch up with crude commodity prices.
As spring arrives driving will increase. Commodities traders will look at the overall economy. If they see the market absorbing the prices, they will again look into buying up oil futures at higher prices.
Back to OPEC. I read three different stories that all stated OPEC ,especially the Saudi's do not want oil over $100 per barrel. They know that will slow the US economy and as with the last major spike in oil ( 2008, $150 per barrel) the market could no longer absorb $4 gas and the market crashed as traders bought up "puts" which are reverse buys on prices. In other words they bet that the price of oil would go down.
Traders will always find a market that will make them money. So the OPEC and other producing countries want a quiet market of small fluctuations.
This latest spike shows no sign of stopping.
At the end of the day, Obama and his admin will get the blame for the high prices. He will get the blame because media reports will tell the story of the historically high deficit spending and borrowing that helped the price of gas rise so much. It is what it is.
Gas could reach $3.75 to $4 by summer....I think $3.50 will be the high avg.

This administration has done NOTHING, NADA, BUPKIS to improve the economy. No jobs created except temporary public sector jobs. The Obama admin has spun 10%( Ok 9.8) unemployment as the "new normal"...He has stated very clearly there were no shovel ready projects and no money to pay for them. Hence the reason for the second stimulus which of course worked like a char.....wait a minute.....I mean, did nothing to improve the economy and did not create a single job.....
I have speculated that if the economy was in good shape, Obama would most definitely pushed Congress into raising the federal gasoline tax ( currently 18 cents per gallon) to $1 per gallon. However, being the shrewd politician he is, in this economy Obama would never have tried this even though it is killing him not to see ( you can Google this quote"I'd be comfortable with four dollar per gallon gasoline"). He knows damned well, he'd never get re-elected.

Where -is- The Obama's call for "a windfall profits penalty on oil selling at or over $80 per barrel."
(As of Christmas 2010, a barrel of oil sold at slightly above $90.)

I think it would be in the range of $145. a barrel before we saw $5.00 gallon gasoline.

Remember, it only costs .36 cents to refine 1 gallon of gasoline, leaving 1 gallon of by-products that sell for more than the gasoline, used to make clothes, oils, plastics, additives, etc. You might say it costs big oil nothing, and the funny part is they are using YOUR land and YOUR oil to gouge YOU with. Wrong.....Gasoline on the NY Mercantile Exchange(NYMEX) at today's close $2.389 per gallon.....
Typically add 60 to 90 cents per gallon for taxes and delivery costs to figure pump price.
NYMEX crude closed at $89.71 per barrel....For every $10 per barrel the typical gas pump pircr will rise 30 to 40 cents per gallon excluding taxes and delivery. Delivery charges rise with the price of fuel to get the trucks to the gas stations.
If oil rises to $130 per barrel as expected, we are looking at gasoline over $4.50 per gallon average nationwide. That's based on the current average of about $3.10/gallon....
If oil gets to $150 which was what the OPEC nations were hoping for in 2008, gas could top $5.50......
No one knows where the top is right now.
Since the law of supply and demand is being violated, there is nothing to stop the prices from rising.
I hope those of you who excused Obama's deficit spending and cheered for the well over one trillion dollars in so -called stimulus ( LOL) are quite happy now.
