Matt covered the ongoing mess in Virginia earlier this morning, where the reciprocity issue for gun permit owners is being essentially tossed on the trash heap, but I’m sorry to say that their story is only the tip of the iceberg. Having lost the battle of public opinion on the importance of Second Amendment rights and losing repeatedly in the courts at the federal level, gun rights opponents have been crafting new strategies to chip away the constitutional rights of gun owners at the state level. (This is traditionally the line of attack where they’ve enjoyed the most success.) Since the Democrats want to score big points with the gun grabbers in their base and there’s a big election on the horizon, you can count on these stories making the news all year long.

2016 will usher in a fresh wave of assaults on Second Amendment rights

Assaults not only on the second amendment but also the first and any other amendment that the left sees as an impediment to their agenda.

Yes....they will pass the laws in left wing controlled states in the hopes that their lower federal court judges, appointed by obama.... will uphold them till hilary can appoint more Supreme court justices....Alito, Scalia and Thomas are getting old and they are the only reliable 2nd amendment votes......then, once she has stacked the SC....they will make these anti gun laws permanent and Constitutional without having to run it through the legislature......

"2016...expect a fresh wave of assaults...on your rights"

Hyperbolic, unfounded nonsense.

No one is 'assaulting' citizens' Second Amendment rights.

No one's Second Amendment rights are going to be 'suspended,' the proposed California measure in no way interferes with or abrogates the right to due process or the right to possess a firearm.

The ordinance in Seattle is both Constitutional and consistent with Washington State tax laws, obviously the author of the cited article didn't bother to read the actual ruling

Indeed, the cited article is nothing but misinformation, ridiculous fallacies, and lies.

It's this sort of fear-mongering idiocy common to most 'gun rights' extremists that reflects poorly on those of us who own guns and seek to defend the rights enshrined in the Second Amendment.

Gun owners and Second Amendment advocates should be better than this, we should present our arguments in an intelligent, reasonable, and factual manner – not resort to inane slippery slope fallacies, demagoguery, and lies.
