Feds Recover $2.5 Billion in Health Care Fraud - ABC News

Federal officials say they recovered a record $2.5 billion in health care fraud judgments last year, and they're planning new security measures to crack down further on Medicare scams.

The Affordable Care Act will also allow authorities more power to combat fraud, including tougher screenings for providers and the ability to withhold payments during investigations. The Departments of Justice and Health and Human Services say the changes will end an antiquated system that puts authorities at a disadvantage.

LOLOLOLOL You're such a fucking rube!

NY states estimates that about 20-30% of their Medicare expenditures are fraud, and that every year!! It a multiple of the $2.5B and that's annual. Medicare need to be totally revamped

Oh and you can go suck Obama's dick.

One has to wonder why the republicans never policed this mess in all the years they held the entire government in their hands.

"Federal officials say" - but there is no detail and no link to any specific information.

This could easily be along the lines of "jobs saved or created" - "Fraud Prevented or Recovered".

Where are the details?

CBO and JCT estimate that enacting both pieces of legislation—H.R. 3590 and the
reconciliation proposal— would produce a net reduction in federal deficits of $138
billion over the 2010–2019 period as result of changes in direct spending and revenue
(see the top panel of Table 1 and subtitle A of title II on Table 5). Approximately $85
billion of that reduction would be on-budget; other effects related to Social Security
revenues and spending as well as spending by the U.S. Postal Service are classified as
off-budget. CBO has not completed an estimate of the potential impact of the legislation
on discretionary spending, which would be subject to future appropriation action.

Is this a good thing for the US?

Are you glad that 2.5 billion is given back to the people from the corporate criminals who stole it?

there's nothing in your link that states the $2.5BB was recovered from corporate criminals and there's nothing that says the money went back to the
*people*, quiffbreath.

obtaining a judgment and getting the money owed are two distinctly different kettles o' fish, as i'm sure your creditors know.

All we have is the same people who claim that millions of jobs were SAVED OR CREATED now saying that a bunch of money was recovered from unspecified fraud from unnamed individuals.

It's Fraud Prevented or Recovered, no doubt.

It is 2.5 billion in RECOVERED funds people.

If any of you truely cared about fiscally responsible goevernment you would be praising these efforts.

Your true colors are showing.
