15 Year Old Pastor's Son Murders Entire Family With An AR-15

Once again a mass murder by someone who should not have had unsupervised access to guns. A minor should not have a gun without adult supervision. Who is against gun safety?
We need to make gun owners responsible for their weapons. If you own a weapon which is used in a crime and you did not have it in a gun safe you should be held criminally negligent. If a child "finds" a weapon and harms himself or others with it, that is no accident, it should at least be reckless endangerment of a child.

i agree that parents should be very responsible with their guns....but this "child" could have killed the mother and young children just as easily with a knife or blunt object....or he could have forced his mother to open a gun safe and gotten the guns anyway...

this 15yo "child" is almost adult in size...

That's just speculation on your part. It's very possible that the mother and other children could have overpowered him if he was armed only with a knife. Also he may have found it much more difficult to stick a knife into his mother rather than just pointing and squeezing.

you're just speculating too.....actually the carnage could have been even more horrific and the family members could have suffered immensely instead of dying quickly....

you are ignoring the elephant in the room...

the problem is MENTAL ILLNESS........NOT the guns.....

When your door is kicked in at 3AM will the intruder give you a minute or two to find your keys and unlock your gun safe?

When you've shot your teenage son breaking in the back window because he forgot his key will you wish you had taken a moment to get your wits about you? Happens all the time, check the statistics, accidental shootings far outnumber shootings made in defense in home break-ins.

Well then, someone should have kept their fucking wits about them, shouldn't they? Nobody's fault except the parent's for shooting at someone without knowing what was going on.

You have rightly pointed out that I was also speculating, then you went on to speculate some more about how much worse the carnage could have been.
Let's stop the speculation. Yes mental illness is a major part of the problem but until you come up with a way to determine who is mentally ill we need to make sure that there aren't guns just lying around in a closet. Lock 'em up!

A boy of faith, and guns going on a rampage with an assault rifle? Impossible! :eusa_hand:

He killed both of his parents, including his younger siblings aged only 9, 5, and 2.

"A 15-year-old was arrested Sunday for allegedly killing a family Saturday evening just outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico, after using the weapon that's dominated much of the gun control conversation -- the AR-15 semi-automatic rifle."

[...]
So What?

He could have done the same thing with an ordinary bird gun, which is a wicked weapon with a shortened ("sawed-off") barrel and loaded with #00 shot. The fact that he used an AR-15 is not relevant.

True enough but don't you think the mentality of a person is different when holding a gun designed to hunt ducks as opposed to a weapon designed to mow down people?

An assault rifle makes it too damn easy. And not "messy". But an assault rifle ban and big clip bans are to stop massacres, like they did in Oz.

A shotgun can be easy too.

Also they are magazines not clips.

First of all a poster who uses both a anti-semitic and sexually provocative slur in his personal logo probably has no idea what "a boy of faith" means. If you are guaranteed to be what your parents are we could honestly call Barry Obama a communist.

Yep, it's the parents fault alright. It's always the person who pulled the trigger who is at fault. The way to reduce the astronomical amount of accidental shootings to lock up your guns. If you feel you may need your weapon at any time, then keep it on you, be responsible for it. This is gun safety 101.

What is the difference?

If anything the shotgun is way more powerful.

So what? You don't care that someone killed their whole family, including a 2 year old? :cuckoo:

i agree that when there are children around guns should usually be locked up to prevent accidents....

but to repeat......stop blaming the guns.....the guns did not cause this young man's ATTACK....his screwed up mind did....

So because someone else's kid went ballistic and killed off his family, the only proper response it to prevent ME from owning a semi automatic rifle.

Yiff in hell, gun grabber.

I thought guns and jesus brought nothing but safety and goodness?

God, I never could have believed the world contains anyone who could be outsmarted by a tree stump.

If only the 9, 5, and 2 years olds had AR-15's with 30 round clips.

I agree, but that's the republicans for you,...
